Betfair Picks - PGA Tour

Tipster: Chris

Odds: Betfair

Nissan Open

To say I am disappointed is something of an understatement! Things haven't gone that well so far this season, but I was always confident the plays being made were good value and that in the long run the profits would follow. So to have your main bet as a 43/1 winner, who goes on to lift the trophy, only for the bet to be voided on what is essentially a technicality is a bitter pill to swallow. Particularly when the majority of bookmakers have paid out on Scott. I'm afraid we just have to take this one on the chin and move on.

FINAL TOTAL: 0 pts - all bets voided.

Update:
There is huge uncertainty over how betfair will settle this market. If it weren't in doubt then I'd be hedging out for a round profit as the playoff is essentially a lottery. Unfortunately it looks like the back of Scott could be voided, so any hedges in the new separate playoff market could be disasterous. Needless to say this is an extrememly frustrating situation, but the only advice I can give is to sit tight and do nothing and wait and see what happens.

Back Adam Scott 2 pts @44 at Betfair
I've mentioned before how highly I rate the young Aussie and I'll definitely back him at this price. I often wonder why he bothers going back to his homeland as his play in America is on a different level to what he dishes up down under. The only concern would be that he has never appeared here before, but that didn't do him any harm in winning the Deutsche Bank in 2003 and the Booz Allen last season - both of which were his first appearance at the event.

Back Stewart Cink 1pt e/w @30/1 at GolfingGods -- Cink has been removed from the listed field so looks as if he is an NR

I'm avoiding jumping on the Weir bandwagon this week. There is obviously a strong case for him, having won the last two here and finishing second last week, but his price is far too short in my opinion. If I was to take any action it would be to lay him.

Back Shigeki Maruyama 1pt @60 at Betfair
Back Peter Lonard 0.75pts @70 at Betfair
Back Stephen Ames 0.5pts @100 at Betfair
Back Zach Johnson 0.5pts @120 at Betfair
Back Jay Haas 0.25pts @180 at Betfair
Maruyama was in this right to the death last year, has already come close this year and is simply too good a player to be at this high a price here. Lonard has been incredibly consistent this season and while he may still not look like a winner, he could provide a good trading opportunity. Similar reasons for backing Haas and Ames, while Johnson certainly does have what it takes to win and really shouldn't be anything like three figure odds
