Sony Open
FINAL RESULT: 4-2-0; +6.32pts
Sabbatini/Kaye LOST by 4
Rose/Poulter WON by 15
Kelly/Furyk LOST by 5
Maruyama/Furyk WON by 8
Durant/Baddeley WON by 5
Toms/Furyk WON by 4
Could have been a bigger profit as Sabbatini did start the final day
ahead of Kaye, but at least the profit was enough to cover the losses on
the outrights, plus some small change.

Joe Durant to beat Aaron Baddeley -107 @

Badds certainly has good course form, but with no top-20 finishes since
last February he is hardly in enough form to have another good week at
Waialae. Durant has finished in the top-20 in each of the last two years
and has finished ahead of Baddeley in eight of their last ten common
events. Despite the location, he shouldn't be the underdog.
David Toms to beat Jim Furyk -125 @
IASbet
[3pts]
Toms finished ahead of Furyk in all eight of their common events and
would have shrugged off any rustiness last week. Very impressive from
tee-to-green and 4th last time out on this course, Toms should be set
for another top-10 finish. Furyk had a lot of work to do over the winter
break if he was to show even a glimpse of his former game.
Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):
Rory Sabbatini to beat Jonathan Kaye +114 @
Pinnacle
I bite at these odds on the expectation that Kaye will suffer a letdown
after last week's near miss. With the South African shading the course
form and holding a 12-2-2 h2h record against Kaye since last February,
it should take a carryover from last week's form for Kaye to prevail.

Justin Rose to beat Ian Poulter -110 @
Ladbrokes
and BetFred [3pts]
Neither player has any history in Hawaii, but Rose did show some very
encouraging form once he concentrated on the PGA Tour in the second half
of last year. That should make him better prepared than his close friend
who, with four missed cuts in his last six starts, is an unpredictable
as ever.

Jerry Kelly to beat Jim Furyk -114 @
Expekt
Furyk may have a good record around the Plantation course in Kapalua
where he has a house, but his record on this island has been rather
indifferent over the last seven years. Kelly has finished ahead of him
in three of the last four years and holds a 7-3-1 h2h record against him
over the past year. Enough reason to back the outright selection again.

Shigeki Maruyama to beat Jim Furyk +135
Pinnacle
Generous odds on Maruyama who has finished ahead of Furyk in each of the
last two years here and in seven of nine common events over the past
year.
