U.S. Open

Finishing Positions (0.5 Pt Stakes)

Bets:   3   Wins:  1   Losses:  2   Profit/Loss = -14.25 Pts. What can you say, 4 rounds of absolute brilliance from Campbell and at no stage did he look as if he would ever come back towards our back price. We won well on Mickelson, but the loss on Els made it overall a poor week.

Pre Round Three Trades

Buy Ernie Els at 33 with IG Sport M/U 18.5, Loss 7.25 Pts
Els has been struggling of late, having changed his management company and for whatever reason this has coincided with a big loss in form. After a fair start on Thursday, Els played poorly yesterday to go out to 57th place and IG dangle a price of 33 for punters to take today. This is a price that is arguably 4 points too low and although we have to insert the caveat that a par round today would probably see him clear 33rd place, he could easily do the opposite and fall completely out of this. The 10 shot rule has ensured upwards of 80 players playing what is normally a 60 + ties event so buying is favoured to selling over the weekend.

Pre Round Two Trades

Buy Michael Campbell at 36 with IG Sport M/U 1, Loss 17.5 Pts
Most prices seem about right this morning apart from possibly Campbell. Tied 17th with 14 others it wouldn't take much for any player around this position to fall dramatically with a poor round. There is a cut in this event at 60 and ties and although it would probably take a 77 or higher to do this it is not impossible. However, we are trading on his price compared to expected end position on the information we have to hand, i.e. the current leaderboard and an average finishing position on that information is probably just above 40.

Pre Round One Trades

Buy Phil Mickelson at 16 with IG Sport M/U 37, Profit 10.5 Pts
Everything in life has its price and I really believe in all the available information for this event that 16 is a price that cannot be ignored for Mickelson even although there is every chance he will contend in this event. Players have been quite open in press conferences suggesting that scores could be really high this week and in those circumstances, with the world's Top 50 players in attendance, we must consider 16 as a value price.
