Wachovia Championship
FINAL RESULT: -1.83 pts
Arron Oberholser - more like Arrrggghhhhhhhon Oberholser this week I'm afraid. Lucas Glover fulfilled his part of the bargain perfectly - finishing well short of the cut at 10 over par. All Oberholser had to do was shoot better than 7 over in his 2nd round. Sadly he decided to not even bother trying and withdrew. Looking at his record, this is far from the first time he's pulled out of a tournament early when the chance of winning it is gone and as such he has now been added (in thick black marker pen) to my 'don't back in matchbets' list. Thankfully Owen's 7th place comfortably saw off Levet who missed the cut to recoup some of the losses.
Back Arron Oberholser to beat Lucas Glover 3pts @-110 at Stan James - lost
Yes Glover is in some good form, but it seems to me that there has been a big overreaction to that. Oberholser leads on the long term head to head stats, and after making a playoff here last year clearly knows how to handle the course. For me, Glover isn't the player he is being made out to be by some and I think he could well struggle to keep his run of form going.
Back Greg Owen to beat Thomas Levet 1.5pts @-120 at William Hill and Easybets - won
Owen has been remarkably consistent since moving to the US tour, missing only one cut in 11 events and regularly popping up in the top 20. Levet however has missed more cuts than he's made, and while he has shown a bit of a return to form I still feel he is tempremental enough to oppose against the steady Owen at this price.
