Matchup bets: (All bets: Total Stake 2pts)

Arjun Atwal to beat Steve Lowery                  -110 @ Ladbrokes

Atwal has finishes of 21-30-16-24-04 in his 5 starts in California. Lowery has missed the cut in 18 of his 31 starts

in California. Atwal's average FP in this event is 17.5 while Lowery's is 46 and he leads the h2h's 9-5 over the last

12 months. Atwal has sound current form with finishes of 42-24-4-mc this season (I can forgive the mc last week

on a course which really didn't suit him) while Lowery's form this season is mc-mc-70-2. Atwal, whichever way you

interpret the form, is the better player, with more potential and demonstrates a higher degree of consistency. With

the better course form and current form he should be clear favourite in this matchup.

Mike Weir to beat Davis Love III                     +104 @ WSEX

Given Love's indifferent form at the moment these are extremely generous odds for Weir. Both players have excellent

previous tournament form, with Weir (mc-mc-07-08-52-03-04-02) beating Love (58-22-10-20-01-mc-01-mc-09)

in the h2h stats by 5-4. Weir stuggled last year through his well documented injury while Love simply just struggled

last season. Weir has shown the promise this year that he can return to the form of two years ago, while Love is

still showing a worrying habit of missing cuts. There are a fair few unknowns in this matchup but this cannot disguise

the fact that these odds are great value.

Arron Oberholser to beat Jesper Parnevik    -110 @ Victor Chandler

As mentioned last week with Campbell, no matter how good a player is playing there comes a time when the

physical and mental exhaustion cannot be overcome. Parnevik is now on his fifth consecutive week and despite

his form still being sound a significant deterioration can't be far away. Oberholser has arguably even better current

form than Parnevik and has the better tournament record (6th and 4th in his last 2 starts, 3-1 in h2h's). Last

season he defeated Parnevik 7-5 in h2h's and with such favourable course and current form he is favoured to come

out on top again.
