Spread Betting News (Sporting Index)

Summary: Bets 5, Wins 2, Losses 3, Loss -9.09 Pts. Poor week

Tournament Trades

Buy Adam Scott FP at 27.8 with
Cantor Spreadfair for 0.6 Pts. M/U 2, Loss 10.32 Pts
Scott has a 32nd and 79th on this course so although his current form is steady this season, he has poor form here. His average FP over 2006 is just below the price you can trade at in this event, but it has to be noted that poor weather forecasts coupled with it being a week before the 2nd major of the year could lead to this event being full of withdrawals. Even if the weather allows a full 4 days uninterupted golf, 27.8 is a fair price to play at in a good field.

Buy Tim Clark FP at 29.4 with Cantor Spreadfair for 0.6 Pts. M/U 50, Profit 7.83 Pts
Clark has excellent course form with two high finishes out of three and current form similar with 4 Top 20's in his last 5 events but with such a good field, a fair chance of problematic weather and a major coming this week he sholud possibly be in the low 30's and not as low as he is.

Round One Trades

Sell Brandt Jobe over John Rollins at 3 with Sporting Index for 0.3 Pts M/U 28, Loss 7.5 Pts
This seems to be priced up just a little too much on current form where Rollins is struggling having missed 5 of his last 6 cuts. The one he made was last week and although he finished down the field he will feel better for having stopped the rot. Jobe finished 4th in the same event but had poor form going in. H2H's sees a 27-18 R1 scoring lead for Jobe since 05' but arguably this should be no more than 1-4.

Sell Paul Azinger over Kevin Sutherland at 1 with IG Sport for 0.3 Pts M/U 13, Loss 3.6 Pts
It's not very often you see Azinger quoted favourite in an 18H match and in this one he arguably shouldn't be. He is only given a price at all due to recent successes with two top 20's in a row. Sutherland though posted a 14th at Wachovia and although not scoring as well recently as Azinger is the better player long term. A 15-5 tournament lead since early 2005 proves this but the biggest argument could come via course form where Sutherland this century has results of 19/11/18/32/22 against Azinger's 16/64/cut/cut. Sutherland obviously has a liking for this layout as shown by the above results so maybe he should be the 1-4 favourite.

Sell Ian Poulter over Joe Ogilvie at 2 with IG Sport for 0.3 Pts M/U -13, Profit 4.5 Pts
Familiarity here with Poulter gives a price of 2-5 when their H2H's since 05' shows a 9-9 tournament tie. Poulter this year has averaged 36 on this tour and had a fairly unsuccessful stint back in Europe through May with a 14th, 60th and a missed cut. He did though qualify for the US Open on Monday which will act as a confidence booster although you can temper that with the fact he has had to play competitive golf in the week coming into the event. Ogilvie meanwhile, although no better than Poulter this season is arguably the equal of him on this tour and is only 2-5 underdog by the fact he is playing against a better known player.
