Adding round 1: Back Paul Goydos against Stephen Leaney and Chris Riley to win 2pts @3.4 at Betfair (note 3.2 available at Ladbrokes) - lost Not so much a case of anything positive about Goydos, it's more that his two opponents here are pretty rotten as well. It seems quite unbelievable that Riley is the same player who made the US Ryder Cup team two seasons back. Back Olin Browne against Phil Mickelson and Davis Love to win 2pts @5.0 at Paddy Power, BlueSq - lost You could argue that Mickelson has a great record here and that Love will be totally determined to put a good round together after doing a 'Pampling' at Sawgrass. But the flip side to that is: everyone knows Mickelson has got a good record here, that's partly why he's the short priced favourite in this 3ball. He also really hasn't looked himself this season - given that his wins have traditionally come from the early part of the season for him to be winless thus far shows something isn't right. In Love's case who really knows how it will turn out - he could be great if he gets off to a good start, but if something goes wrong early then all the Sawgrass demons could come back and wreak havoc with his head. Browne doesn't have the best of records here but did manage a top 20 finish in the event in 2003 and being in fairly solid form this season looks worth a risk at this price.
--------------------------------------------- Round 1: Back Greg Kraft against Jerry Kelly and Lee Janzen to win 5pts @5.0 at Ladbrokes - lost Kraft really isn't as bad a player as this price implies. He hasn't played here in a while but last time he did he managed a creditable 24th place. Back Matthew Goggin against James Driscoll and David Howell to win 2pts @3.5 at Centrebet - lost Good form in Australia over the close season was finally translated in to a good finish in the US with a 10th place at the Honda. Goggin finished 6th here back in 2001 and the signs point to a good week for him.
