Stephen Ames to beat Arron Oberholser -110 @ Bet365, BetDirect & BetFred
After a mid-season slump Ames's form has picked up again. His average finishing position over the
past 5 weeks is 30 and with a 23rd place finish on this course in 2003 he is set for another decent
showing. Oberholser has never completed a Canadian Open, missing the cut twice (including here
in 2003) and withdrawing after an opening round of 75 in 2004. He performed well last week but
after a promising start to the season his form has generally been very poor. Indeed since the end
of February he has only managed to beat Ames twice in nine attempts.
Fred Funk to beat Tom Pernice Jnr -110 @ UKBetting
A matchup between two players who performed well here last time out, Funk finishing 6th and
Pernice finishing 3rd. In h2h's it is also level at 9-9-1 for the season. This course typically suits
accurate iron shot-making, something that is more commonly attributed to Funk than Pernice.
In addition, Funk's recent form is far more impressive than Pernice and indeed Funk has shown
remarkable consistency throughout the season while Pernice's consistency has been generally
absent.
Corey Pavin to beat Bob Tway -110 @ BetDirect Tway won this tournament the last time the event was staged here. And that's about all there
is to recommend Tway given the form he has shown this season. Tway's 33rd place finish at the
Buick last month is his second best place finish of the season, his best place finish being a 13th
place finish back in February. Pavi is having his best season for a long time. He won the US Bank
Championship and has performed with admirable consistency all season. He leads the h2h's with
Tway 9-5 this season and has won 7 out of the last 8 matchups.
