Stanley is on holiday, so this week's tips are provided by Chris.

Back The Field vs The Big Five (Woods, Singh, Mickelson, Els, Furyk) 5pts @evens at Extrabet, Betfair, Betdaq

Of all the majors this seems the most likely for a 'lesser light' to come through and win. Whether it be the rank outsider in Beem ('02) or Micheel ('03), or a player making the step up by winning their first major such as David Toms ('01). Woods is obviously the big threat here and it is difficult to oppose him, but in the end everything has it's price and with question marks surrounding the form of Mickelson, Els and Singh the value here is with the field.

Back Stephen Ames 1.5pts e/w @100/1 available generally

Ames has the all-round game to win here and at Sawgrass he showed he also has the temperament to beat a world class field. He fits the billing perfectly of a player ready to make the step up to win his first major. A 15th place finish at the Buick Open is good form to be coming in to the event on, and he will have fond memories of playing in Illinois as this was the state he made the breakthrough to win his first pgatour event at the 2004 Western Open.
