Summary: 2 Bets, 2 Wins, 2 Losses. Loss 2.28 Pts Bet 1 - Sell Charles Howell over Tom Lehman 18H MB at 5 with Sporting Index for 0.3 Pts M/U 0, Profit 1.5 Pts Howell is admittedly having a great season but in H2H's over a full year the score stands at 9-5 Howell and 8-5-1 in R1 matches and that suggests 5 is a bit high. Lehman won the last event they both took part in, which was the Palmer event at Bay Hill and his season has consisted of 5 cuts made from 8 with an average R1 score of 70.5. Other firms go 3-6 and that still seems a little high although of course factors in the season Howell is having. Bet 2 - Buy Daniel Chopra FP at 50 with IG Sport for 0.6 Pts M/U 41, Loss 5.4 Pts Chopra in 3 events here has finishes of 54/68/cut and although he has had a good season by his standards (4 Top 25's in 11 starts) this is a good field and the price should possibly be slightly higher than it is. He is on a trend just now where he plays ok for 2 events then misses the cut in his next event and that sequence is waiting on a cut miss again this week. Although, of course, this is just a run of numbers it does show he is struggling to put a sustained run together. Given that he is playing a course he has no form with, there is value in opposing him at the price offered. Bet 3 - Buy Vijay Singh over Phil Mickelson 18H MB at 1.5 with Cantor Spreadfair for 0.3 Pts M/U 0, Loss 0.45 Pts The marquee match for Thursday night viewing brings together the two best players on show and 1.5 seems a bit low to get with Singh. H2H's show Singh winning 5 of the 7 they have played in 07' with the only wins for Mickelson coming in California. Singh has also prevailed in 4 of the 6 Byron Nelson's played since 2000 and with Mickelson changing coach this week which will bring its own side circus, we should get with Singh at the price offered. Bet 4 - Sell Phil Mickelson over Jerry Kelly 72H MB at 3.45 with Sporting Index for 0.6 Pts M/U 0, Profit 2.07 Pts H2H's show a 8-4 annual lead for Mickelson with Kelly winning the last 2 events they have played in. In fact, Kelly is in a far superior run of form with his last 3 starts producing no worse than 9th place whereas Mickelson has a best finish 23rd in his last 3 starts. On Nelson form, Kelly leads 2-1 in H2H's and with a near stroke per round start this week there is value in supporting Kelly whilst he is in such good current form. Admittedly, we are now doubling up against Mickelson in our bets but there is good value in both prices. |
