Harrington beaten by Ogilvy by 2
Bets: 4 Wins: 3 Losses: 1 Profit/Loss = + 5.44 pts
Matchup plays:
Stake 3pts Zach Johnson to beat John Rollins -105 @ Pinnacle Johnson is a class above Rollins, highlighted by a 12-5 lead to Johnson in h2h's over the past 12 months. He
also has a decent record here with a 8th place finish in 2005 and performed well until a final round of 79 put
him out of contention last year. Rollins finished 8th here last season but this followed three missed cuts and
although he is accurate of the tee this course seems to rely more on accurate iron play; preference here again
goes to Johnson.
Stake 3pts Ian Poulter to beat Rod Pampling -105 @ Pinnacle Unquestionably Pampling has been in excellent form this season, yet despite this, he still trails Poulter 5-2 in
h2h's this season. And both times that Pampling came out on top he was assisted by a missed cut from Poulter.
Poulter has shown a lot more consistency this season and is in good current form and has the better course
form with two decent previous finishes and an unfortunate missed cut in 2005. Pampling has one decent finish
in 2005 and three poor attempts. Further Matchup plays:
Stake 3pts Stewart Cink to beat Rory Sabbatini -110 @ Skybet Sabbatini is in stunning form at the moment and it may seem foolish to oppose a player who has just had three
consecutive place finishes. But Sawgrass is a pretty unique course relying on good course management,
accurate iron play and patience. Doesn't really sound like Sabbatini does it? In fact, his previous record here is
woeful with six missed cuts from seven starts. Cink's game is in decent shape after a fifth place finish last time
out, an accurate iron game and a decent previous record here. Irrespective of Sabbatini's current form I can't
see his game having matured enough to be suited to this test and a reasonable effort by Cink should take this.
Stake 3pts Padraig Harrington to beat Geoff Ogilvy -111 @ Intertops Harrington is a strong fancy this week and seems to have a game suited for this challenge. He has two previous
second place finishes here, decent GIR stats very few question marks surrounding his current form. Ogilvy's
game at the moment is in a bit of a lull and even he has admitted that he is not striking the ball well. He has a
couple of decent finishes here but has also missed the cut on three separate occassions and any weaknesses in
his game should be exploited by Harrinton this week. |
