Stake 3pts Allenby to beat Perry -115 @ Carib Allenby suffered from flu symptoms while playing in the Sony this year but performed much better at the Bob Hope finishing 12th after a slow start to the event. This good form followed on from his decent showings in Australia over the winter. He should also be well-suited by the tough courses at Torrey Pines and has three good finishes from four previous starts here (9th place in 2007). Perry performed well last week but after five mentally and physically challenging rounds I don't think he would have chosen a visit to Torrey Pines as his next stop. But primarily he is here as preparation for the US Open which will be staged here later in the year. Allenby beat Perry (MDF)
Stake 2pts Perez to beat Mahan +100 @ Stan James This is Perez's "home" event given that he is a graduate of Torrey Pines high school. He has decent finishes here in the past (6th in 2005) and although there is the danger that he might end up trying too hard to win, another decent finish looks a distinct possibility given his encouraging start to the season (4th place finish at the Sony). Mahan has also started the season well (5th at the Mercedes) although his finishing position does flatter him slightly due to a closing 64. His four previous starts here of three MC's and a 58th place finish hardly inspire confidence. Perez (MC) beaten by Hahan
Stake 3pts Sabbatini to beat Furyk +132 @ Pinnacle Sabbatini has certainly started the season in form. He started slowly in the Mercedes but slowly improved as the tournament progressed and then at the Sony put together four impressive sub-70 rounds to finish 2nd behind Choi. Sabbatini has a decent record here with four good finishes and two rather unfortunate missed cuts such as last year where he opened up with a 76 and followed it up with a 66 to miss the cut by 1 stroke. Furyk has only two previous starts here, the last being in 2001, and on both occasions he has missed the cut. His lack of distance may be a factor here this week and his appearance here looks to be of a similar nature to Perry's in preparing for the US Open. Sabbatini beat Furyk by 11

Stake 2pts Kelly to beat O'Hair +115 @WSEX A good start to the seson from Kelly finishing 3rd at the Sony and 1st for GIR. Although he has missed the last two cuts here (both times due to a very poor second round) he has previously performed well here in the past. O'Hair typically is a slow starter to the season and has done so again this season with a 50th place finish at the Sony. And from his three previous starts here he has yet to make the cut. Kelly shouldn't be odds against in this matchup. Kelly (MC) beaten by O'Hair
