Selections this week: -

2-4; +4.88

Steve Stricker 1pt ew @ 11/1 vc, betfred, skybet

The odds maybe a little shorter than desired but his form speaks for itself and he also has a 4th place finish here last year to his name. This course should suit even better than last week where Mr Stricker lost in a play off and although did not make a birdie in the play off I am sure he will be prominent again come Sunday afternoon.

Stephen Ames 1pt ew @ 20/1 generally available

Again I would have liked slightly longer odds but again has both good course and recent form. Missed out on the playoff by one shot last week and looks to be continuing where he left off last year (won Disney Classic.) He certainly does not lack in confidence at any time so would imagine he is on an even higher wave than normal.

Jonathan Byrd 1pt ew @ 66/1 Bet Direct, Hills, Stan James

Was T3rd going into the last round last week and closed with a disappointing 74 but think he should go well again this week. A solid rather than spectacular player and with driving accuracy of 80.0 and GIR of 77.8 I expect a very solid performance on a course that should suit as accuracy is the premium not distance. Has good putting stats and really do think the 66/1 is great value.

Nick Flanagan 0.5 ew @ 150/1 Hills, Tote

A little bit of a speculative play but following a fantastic year on the Nationwide Tour think he is worthy of a small interest at these odds. A very solid ball striker and the course should suit so I see no reason why he can not figure in the places at odds of greater than 35/1.

Jason Allred 0.5 ew @ 300/1 Coral

Again a speculative play but could not resist these odds. Has got a little bit of course form and capable of shooting some very low numbers. Finished 5th at tour school following a solid year on the Nationwide and although will not be able to use his power to its full potential think he is worthy of an interest at odds of 75/1 for a place.

Additional play after round 1

KJ Choi 2 pt win @ 11/2 Generally available

Whilst I don’t want to get into a habit of making plays after round 1 I am somewhat kicking myself for taking off KJ from the short list @25/1 at the start of play. A selection last week and was tempted this week but do still think he represents reasonable value when Furyk is second in the betting and is 4 shots behind. Closed with 69,69 (4 under, 4 under) last week and opened with a bogey free 64 so has clearly blown away the cobwebs. He is a proven multiple winner and see no reason why he cannot go wire to wire this week and open his 2008 account.
