Bets: 4 Wins: 2 Losses: 2 Profit/Loss = - 0.14 pts Stake 1.5pts C Howell to beat Ames -110 @ Paddy Power Howell had an encouraging start to the season at the Sony, changing coaches over the winter, after a disappointing 2008 season. He enjoys this course and has a decent and consistent record here. Ames's 5th place finish at the Bob Hope was primarily down to a superb closing 63, he was lying in 43rd place going into the final round. He was inconsistent last season and has inconsistent form here, Howell leading the h2h's here by 4-2. Howell is fancied to do well this week. Lose
Stake 1.5pts Campbell to beat Perez -110 @ BoyleSports Campbell hasn't shown a lot here in the past but his recent form is good. But this is a play primarily against Perez. He has missed the cut in six of his seven starts here and his record after a top 5 finish reads mc/48/3/w/mc/mc/mc/mc/d/w/23/44/67/mc/mc/mc/mc. Win
Stake 1.5pts Gay to beat Imada +100 @ Bet365 Gay isn't particularly long off the tee, which is a slight worry if conditions are dry. But he has performed well here in the past so he shouldn't be too inconvenienced. Also he is in such fine form, continuing on from a very decent 2008 season, that he is hard to resist at these odds. Imada has been very consistent of late and performed well last time out. But his form here isn't great and Gay has the better form on the west coast swing to make these odds value. Win
Stake 1.5pts Marino to beat Mahan -110 @ Stan James Marino has been the epitome of consistency over the past few months and has continued that form into this season. He did well to finish 34th here last season after a disappointing opening round. This Mahan's first start of the season and his previous initial starts haven't been that encouraging. He does have a 9th place finish here back in 2005 but in general his west coast swing form is quite poor. Lose
