Sell Rory McIlroy over Brandt Jobe 18H MB at 8 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U 0, Profit 4 Pts Sell Rory McIlroy over Heath Slocum 18H MB at 5 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U -13, Profit 9 Pts This seems priced on the expectation that McIlroy will be popular with most bettors this week, so therefore Sporting opt to offer a price that overestimates his actual value in relation to his opponents. A great week last week on his first US tour event is followed this week by his first 72H strokeplay event. Jobe has made two cuts from three this season and Slocum is coming off of a 3rd at the back up event in Mexico last week. Neither have good course form and on pure ability McIlroy should win with ease but over 18 holes the prices are a good couple of points too high.
Sell John Rollins over Briny Baird 18H MB at 0 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U 19, Loss 9.5 Pts Sporting make Rollins favourite possibly on a reaction to another famous R4 Baird collapse last week when in with a chance of winning. He did however finish 12 shots ahead of Rollins and over the last 12 months has beaten him 15 times out of 20 outright and 16 times in R1. Baird isn't a man to back to win an event but our interest in him will be over well before the business end of the event.
Sell Ernie Els over Carl Pettersson 18H MB at 4 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U -13, Profit 8.5 Pts Sell Camilo Villegas over Carl Pettersson 18H MB at 5 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U -13, Profit 9 Pts Of the 5 Honda Classic's played on this course by these 3 players the worst finish is 24th, shared by Villegas and Pettersson. H2Hs show a 7-5 and 7-6 lead to the favourites respectively so coupled with course form it suggests that Pettersson has a greater chance in this 3 ball that the prices imply.
Sell Darren Clarke over James Nitties 18H MB at 1 with IG Sport for 0.5 Pts M/U 0, Profit 0.5 Pts Clarke has been a shadow of the player we seen in the early part of the decade and his two most recent Euro tour stops seen him miss one cut and finish 54th in the other. His PGA tour in the last two years shows 5 missed cuts and two finishes outside the top 40. Nitties was 6th last week in Mexico and 4th in Phoenix a few weeks before.
Sell Mark Calcavecchia over Stuart Appleby 18H MB at 1 with IG Sport for 0.5 Pts M/U 0, Profit 0.5 Pts H2Hs shows a 9-2 Appleby lead and scoring sees Appleby a full stroke better than Calc. This price is all about current and course form but long term Appleby is a better player and "choice" would be a far better estimation of what the price should be, in my opinion.
Sell Steve Marino over Ken Duke 18H MB at 3 with IG Sport for 0.5 Pts M/U 25, Loss 11 Pts This price seems heavily based on current form as head to heads shows very little difference in their abilities and scoring stats sees Duke post a better annual average score by about a quarter of a stroke.
