10-8; -0.87pts

Round 1 plays (1pt):

Jim Furyk to beat Davis Love -150 @ Paddy Power [tie loses]  WON by 5
Short odds, particularly with the 'ties lose' element, but Furyk's last three finishes read: 11th, 5th, 9th; Love's read: mc, 52nd, mc. In terms of course form, the last seven occasions that these have both played in this event, Furyk has finished ahead of Love every time.

Ian Poulter to beat James Nitties -182 @ Unibet  LOST by 2
Short odds again, but they should be even shorter. This course is set up to be a good test ahead of the U.S. Open - provided the weather is not wet - and that is much better news for Poulter than Nitties. He ranks 1st in greens in regulation on the European Tour and 1st in scrambling on the PGA Tour, so there are no question marks over his short game around tough courses. The same cannot be said for Nitties who has shown some good form recently, but still ranks 131st in greens in regulation and 89th in putting average on the PGA Tour. Making his course debut he should struggle around here, unlike Poulter who has made the cut in three of four attempts.

Luke Donald to beat Padraig Harrington -110 @ The Greek [also available @ Bet365, William Hill and Carib]  WON by 11
Quite a difference in form between these two: Harrington has missed the cut in two of his last three events and hasn't played here since 2004; Donald has finished 2nd and 13th in his last two PGA Tour starts and finished 6th here last year. Harrington may be the one with Major titles to his name, but he is certainly opposable in regular Tour events.

Charl Schwartzel to beat Matt Bettencourt -175 @ Unibet  LOST by 1
This event throws up some unusual matchups with its international field, but there should really only be one winner of this matchup. Schwartzel has one of the best short games on the European Tour - he ranks 11th in scrambling and 3rd in greens in regulation - and has used it to make the cut in both his previous attempts in this event. Bettencourt, on the other hand, does not have the game to compete on tough courses: he ranks 178th in greens in regulation, 110th in scrambling and 164th in putting average on the PGA Tour. Showing no particular form of late, it is unlikely that he will play in all four rounds on his course debut.

Jason Dufner to beat James Driscoll -120 @ Five Dimes  TIED
Two players showing good form over the past month, but even though Driscoll is the only one to have course form here, it is not very good: he has missed the cut on both occasions, shooting 76-73 in 2005 and 78-81 last year. With Dufner having a much better short game, he should perform much better on his course debut, particularly as this event is in his home State.

NOTES

Plays will typically be 1pt and cover only '2-ball' matches rather than '3-balls' matches. Note that '1pt' represents 'to win 1pt' if the player is odds-on (negative in moneyline terms or less than 2.0 in decimal odds) and represents '1pt staked' if the player is odds-against (positive in moneyline terms or at least 2.0 in decimal odds). If ties lose, this will be indicated.

Reasons will be given for round 1 plays, but thereafter the plays will be listed only - there is less time for handicapping between rounds, plus if I detail too many intra-round angles during the course of the season, the odds will surely be adjusted in future if the angles are profitable.
