Bets: 7 Wins: 4 Losses: 3 Profit/Loss = + 2.85 pts Stake 3pts Sutherland to beat Austin +110 @ FiveDimes Win Not really sure what Austin has done to deserve such strong favouritism here. Yes he's been performing well of late and has won the last 2 h2h's but Sutherland's recent form has been pretty decent. There's not much between them in course form although Sutherland has the disadvantage of not having played here since 2004. In the last 12 months Sutherland leads 11-4 in h2h's and even with the slight doubt surrounding his course experience he doesn't warrant a price much in excess of -110. Stake 2.5pts Donald to beat Harrington -110 @ Bet365 Win Stake 2.5pts Villegas to beat Harrington -110 @ Ladbrokes, Boyle Sports Win Harrington is an obvious choice to oppose this week given his current form. He's also doesn't usually play here but with his aim being the majors at the moment this is the start of his build-up to the US Open. His form in his only two starts here, the last being in 2004, was average. Donald as ever looks to be a safe pair of hands. His current form is good, his ball striking is good, he finished 6th here last year and has the game to do well here. Similarly, Villegas has been in good form this season, his ball striking has been particularly impressive although his putting can be suspect at times and he performed creditably here last year. Stake 3pts Lehman to beat Duke +100 @ FiveDimes Win Duke has eight missed cuts from fifteen starts this season and previous finishes here of 53rd and 51st. Lehman's short game leaves a lot to be desired at the moment but he was 1st for GIR last week and 1st at the Heritage. He has been supremely consistent of late and had a top twenty finish here last season. Its close but I might even have him as favourite here. Stake 3pts Goggin to beat Imada -115 @ Pinnacle Lose Neither player has been contending of late with Goggin missing three of his last four cuts and Imada two with neither player worrying the leaderboard. But I'm finding it hard to understand why Goggin keeps on missing the cut as his stats are actually pretty decent. Last week he missed the cut but hit almost 72% of fairways and had a putting average of 1.63. Imada has shown nothing here in the past but Goggin finished an impressive 2nd here last year and hopefully those good memories will inspire him to a better scoring display. Stake 2pts Rose to beat D Johnson -110 @ Expekt Lose I have paid the price a few times for under-estimating Johnson this season but on a course which favours not just hitting fairways but hitting the right areas of fairways I can't get excited about his chances this week. He is very long and a very good putter as well but he's not that accurate off the tee and performed poorly here last season. Slowly but steadily Roses form is beginning to pick up and his last couple of performances have been very encouraging although his short game is still a bit below his usual high standard. His form here has been very impressive with three top twenty finishes from four starts. Stake 3pts O'Hern to beat Pampling -105 @ Carib Lose Pampling's current form is mixed with a few good performances scattered amongst a number of poor performances. His recent form here has been good after a number of disappointing efforts. Despite that he trails O'Hern 13-4 in nh2h's over the past 12 months and 2-1 in course h2h's. And with O'Hern having such a good record here with finishes of 6-23-10 and having previously stated that this course "just fits my eye" he is favoured at around -120.
