2009 Season Plans:

This year there are no immediate rule changes to deal with, but we do have one less firm to trade at with the demise, in December 2008, of Cantor Spreadfair. Our advices therefore from now on will be placed at either Sporting Index, IG Sport or Spreadex.

With regards Spread Betting plans for this year, towards the end of the 2008 season there was less and less interest from the two firms who trade the Champions Tour but if they provide a service this year I will advise any plays that are value. The PGA Tour, though, will be my main source of interest especially around the bigger events, the 4 majors, the 3 WGC events and the Players Championship in May. However, with one less firm to trade at there will undoubtedly be less trades on a weekly basis.

Finally, staking. The intention this year is to have a uniformed staking level rather than the 0.5 Pts for FPs and 0.25 Pts for 18H “2 balls” that we traded at last year. In 2009, stakes will be 0.5 Pts across all trades, be they FP’s, 18’s or any occasional special or index bets.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bet 1 - Buy P McLachlin on Spreadex's Tailenders Index at 9 for 0.5 Pts M/U 0, Loss 4.5 Pts (0-1-0)
A market consisting of the outsiders, Spreadex have possibly underestimated local boy McLachlin to have him as the outsider of the 10 bar 1. On 1 year form McLachlin is 3rd in this list and only Gay has an average Finishing position significantly lower at 36 compared to McLachlin's 39.5. As a local, he has played the course 20+ times and states in an interview "I have played there a fair amount when I was growing up in high school and other times. I feel like I know the golf course pretty well". This price is value at 9 but if it goes into double figures consider selling his FP at 21 or higher.
