Buy Retief Goosen FP at 40 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts. M/U 3, Loss 18.5 Pts
Another play against Goosen who rarely plays pro-am events, with only one visit to the Bob Hope in his career and none to this event. He did play here in the '00 Open but that was in the summer on a toughened up course, not an easy playing 3 course event. Last week's form doesn't nothing to suggest he isn't value again this week even although the opposition is poorer.

Sell Retief Goosen over Tom Pernice 18H R1 MB at 4 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U 22, Loss 9 Pts
Arguments against Goosen's chances this week are posted above but in H2H betting its all about the price against his specific opponent. In 2008 in 12 events, Pernice won over the full tournament 7 times and won 5 and tied 2 of their R1 matches. This is an example as posted last week of Goosen's fall from grace that he is currently trying to recover from. Pernice is a solid player who makes over 2 in 3 cuts and is 1 in 3 finishing in the Top 25 and has a similar scoring record over the last year to Goosen so shouldn't be 4pt underdog.

Sell Vijay Singh over Todd Hamilton 18H R1 MB at 10 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U -13, Profit 11.5 Pts
This started out as a very speculative play, as along with David Duval, Hamilton is a player I don't like to get with too often as he can sometimes look like he is out of his depth on this tour. However, his one year averages are a full stroke better than his record over the years 2006-08 and maybe he is getting back towards the form that seen him win a couple of events in the earlier part of the decade, including of course, a major. Strangely H2H's show them tie 4-4 in events in 08' although Singh leads 6-2 in R1 scoring but it is a measure of the improvement in Hamilton that Singh doesn't have a winning record over him recently.

Sell Mike Weir over Dean Wilson 18H R1 MB at 6 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U 13, Loss 3.5 Pts
H2H's show Wilson isn't as far off Weir in the last year's scoring than a 6-9 quote would suggest and it is possibly down to Weir's popularity with the betting public and tipsters this week. 10-7 in events and 8-5-4 in R1 matches confirm that Wilson should have a lower start and it's Weir's four Top 5's in six years has appealed to the backers this week and possibly forced Sporting to go as high.

Sell David Toms over Brian Bateman 18H R1 MB at 10 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts M/U -19, Profit 14.5 Pts
A strange quirk in the 11 "12 month" H2H's here where Toms leads events by 8-3 but Bateman has had a Thursday lead in 7 of them. Toms doesn't have a particularly good record here with a 13th in 98' the only Top 25 in 6 starts with 2 missed cuts also suffered. Bateman has a poor record here, worse than Toms's, but at a price of 10 there is definitely enough question marks over Toms here to suggest the price is value.

Buy Crazy Pavin Performance at 0 with Sporting Index for 0.5 Pts. M/U -25, Loss 12.5 Pts
Like the Simpson bet last week, this is a buy of Corey Pavin's performance with scoring 200 win, 100 top 10, 50 Top 20, 25 Top 30, -25 MC. Pavin has a record here in the last 5 years of 10th, cut, cut, 6th, 3rd so averages 40 on the points scoring system. His current form shows 3 missed cuts from 3 starts hence the low quote, but there is still value given the known downside and of course if he makes R4 its a free bet at the price.

2-4-0 -17.5 Pts (R4 cancelled so no chance for Goosen to fall back a bit)
