1-0; -6.00pts (system plays: 1-0) Round 4 play (4pts): Dustin Johnson to beat Martin Laird -150 @ Stan James, BetFred, BetInternet and Boyle Sports [available generally] LOST by 1 Easy to back Johnson in this situation - in second place and three shots behind the leader rather than three shots in front of the field. He was in this situation in the PGA Championship and showed how much he has improved as a marquee player. For Laird, he won on the PGA Tour last year, but that was from off the pace and the only time that he has previously held the end-of-day lead in a PGA Tour was after the 1st round of the 2008 Wyndham Championship; he shot 74 the next day to drop to 61st. His interviewer summed it up yesterday - "Without being dramatic, tomorrow's is the biggest day in your professional career" - so while he may go to win from this position, I don't see him pulling away from the field. NOTES
There will be only one play per round - my 'best bet' - and
these will typically be 2pts and cover only '2-ball'
matches rather than '3-ball' matches. Where my analysis points to a
particular mismatch that is not reflected in the odds, higher stakes may be
advised, up to a maximum of 6pts.
Note that '2pts' represents 'to win
2pt' if the player is odds-on (negative in moneyline terms or less than 2.0 in decimal odds) and represents
'2pts staked' if the player is odds-against (positive in moneyline terms or at least 2.0 in decimal odds).
