Result:  Mahan repeats his 65 of Saturday to win by one shot. But not before Yang looked like he would take the title - hitting both the lays and indeed trading as short as 1.7 before his water-bound tee shot on 17.

3-7, +47.24pts.

Update after round 3:

A strong 3rd round from Mahan gives him a chance, although he may well need a repeat performance today. Putting up some hedging lays to leave in-running. Yang is probably too far back, and is apparently suffering from a case of the sniffles, but stranger things have happened so just in case he should get himself near the lead will put up some lays too.

LAY Hunter Mahan to lose 20pts @3  (i.e. stake 10pts) -- matched

BACK Hunter Mahan to win 75pts @75  (i.e. stake 1.01pts)

Has not shown much form yet this season, but if he can find his game he has the class to win in this company and there's no reason the course shouldn't suit him.

BACK Y.E. Yang to win 75pts @130  (i.e. stake 0.58pts)

This is a player who clearly knows how to win and at these odds is worth a go even given the lack of course experience - it didn't do him much harm in previous victories.

BACK Scott Verplank to win 75pts @170  (i.e. stake 0.44pts)
BACK Nick O'Hern to win 75pts @330  (i.e. stake 0.23pts)

Sadly the same can not be said of knowing how to win for these two, but both have pretty decent records in this event and backing them here in the hope of being able to trade out if they can get in to the mix.

BACK Jason Day to win 75pts @230  (i.e. stake 0.33pts)

A future multiple winner by accounts - maybe he can grab his first this week at a big price. 20th place in this event in his only appearance suggests it might suit his game.

BACK Scott McCarron to win 75pts @430  (i.e. stake 0.17pts)

A player at the opposite end of the career path to Day, but who has shown a fondness for desert golf, and managed a number of good performances in this event over the years. A poor start to the season but 21st place last time out at pebble maybe hints at a return to form.
