4-0 +10.22 pts Stake 3.75 pts Jeff Overton -125 over Alex Prugh (sportingbet, ties lose) Different class here for Jeff. Even though he did not win last season he contended on a weekly basis, would have won bar Stuart Appleby's heroic 59, and made the Ryder Cup with a boom baby boom. I am expecting a sophmore slump from Mr. Prugh who played well the first part of the season a year ago and then fell off the map. Stake 3.09 pts Martin Laird -103 over Alex Prugh (pinnacle) Don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket but this is an over reaction to a 5th place a year ago. Laird has really come on as of late with some better luck could have won three times at the end of the year. A three putt cost him the title at The Barclays, a hole in one cost him in vegas, and a poor last few holes cost him in Malaysia. His record at the Hope is surprisinly poor but he is due a good start as these venues should suit him better than they have Stake 2.2 pts Brendon De Jonge -110 over Heath Slocum (betfred, ties lose) Slocum is a solid player at tight courses where -9 is the winning score. This is a bit different where you have to go really low four out of five rounds to have a chance. A lot of people believe de Jonge to be the next big thing, I am still on the fence with him. He has the ability to shoot some low scores. This matchup shouldn't be too problematic. Stake 2 pts Justin Leonard +111 over Spencer Levin (pinnacle) I kind of see where these odds are coming from...Leonard past his prime, washed up, in comes young stud Spencer Levin. But Levin has no course form to speak of and sure hasn't seen too much this week after Hawaii whereas Leonard has won this event and finished second to John Rollins a few years back when he had a 4 shot lead in the final round. Maybe next year I'll understand this but not now. |
