Stake 4.8 pts Gary Woodland -120 (ties lose) over David Toms (Boyle Sports) Toms missed the cut last week at a course that playing soft and easy. Woodland finished 13th in the 54 hole event, closing with a 65. Woodland also played well at the PGA. So he comes in here expecting to win and his games suits this unique track in Boston. He's one of the longest drivers on tour and getting more accuracy. His short game is getting better and beteer each tournament. It's his first visit to TPC Boston but Toms hasn't done anything good in his 5 starts. Stake 4 pts Vijay Singh +112 over Webb Simpson (thegreek) Man does Vikay love these playoffs. He took momentum from Wyndham (where Webb won), where he finished t4th, then went on to finish t3 last week at the Barclays. Now Webb finished 10th and it's obvious both of these guys are playing very well right now. However Simpson missed the cut here the last two years, his only two starts there. Meanwhile Vijay won this event twice and had two other top 5 finshes. So I am on board with Vijay at +odds. Stake 3 pts Brandt Snedeker +107 over Charl Schwartzel (thegreek) Snedeker is sneaking into some form with a t3 that include a record setting 61 in the last round. Obviously he's found something having stugggled with two missed weeks early in August. Brandt's record for @ TPC Boston is pretty decent making all four cuts, best finish was 5th a year ago and his worts was a t47 @ -2. Schwartzel is making his debut at this course but I am sure he'll have no problem as he is having a very nice season. With Brandt's play last week and his good course form he has to be a play at even money or better. Stake 3 pts Geoff Ogilvy +100 (ties lose) over Jim Furyk (stanjames) Both of these guys are having poor seasons, we expect more from two U.S Open winners. I am more worried about Jimmy who recently switched to the long or belly putter. I mean putting was his game, he used to be automatic from 10 feet and in. When these guys switch to the longer putters it takes a lot of time. Ogilvy's excuse is a little less worriesome as him and his wife added another child back in Frebruary. He has shone signs this season but just looks a tad rusty and unfocused. But looking at course form it seems Geoff has a liking to this place: t2 last year, 7 the year before, 6 in 2007 and a t5 in his debut. Jim's recored is good too, just not as good and I refuse to back Jimmy using a broom. Stake 1 pt Zach Johnson and David Toms to tie 16/1 (stan james) Both have similar style games, not long but accurate, great wedge players and great putters. Both have similar finishes at this venue in the past and recently have similar finishes. Both missed the cut at the Barclays two shots apart. At Firestone Toms finished t6 at -10 while Johnson finished t9 at -9, 1 shot apart!. Out of all the matchups with draw as an option, this looks to be the best one. |
