0-2; -11.60pts (system plays: 1-5-1) No round 1 plays. Round 2 play (4pts): Ryuji Imada to beat Mike Weir -150 @ 5Dimes LOST by 1 Easy to oppose Weir who is making his first start since elbow surgery in August. Two months ago, he could only work on his short game as the doctors had not given him permission to take full swings and he admitted for the first time on Tuesday that he could now play full rounds. So, to shoot level-par in his first competitive round for six months is an achievement, but that was on the easy Moneterey Peninsula course. That round only sees him 88th place and he now has to play the tougher courses. Ranking almost last in driving accuracy in round 1 could not have been good for his elbow - it was trying to play out of the rough that forced his retirement in his last event, the Canadian Open - and it will not get any easier on his elbow or in trying to find the greens around Pebble Beach today. I didn't expect to get the opportunity to oppose Weir this week, so I certainly will take this chance with a player who showed good form in round 1. [unofficial rd2 system plays: O'Hair tb Couch -120 (L)] No round 3 plays. Round 4 play (4pts): Tiger Woods to beat Phil Mickelson -140 @ Carib [available generally] LOST by 11 Woods has looked to be in good form this week and that is shown by the stats - he leads the field in greens in regulation. Yes, it has been two years since he won a PGA Tour event, but Mickelson has only won once since his 2010 Masters title. I don't see him struggling under the final round pressure, whereas Mickelson is far more likely to take on risky shots being two shots further back and that should lead to a poor score. [unofficial rd4 system plays: Ogilvy tb Owen -175 (L); Singh tb Kokrak -138 (L); Gay tb Harman -150 (T); Mahan tb Johnson D -105 (L); Mickelson tb Johnson D +100 (W); Watney tb Walker -133 (L)] |
NOTES
There will be only one play per round - my 'best bet' - and
these will typically be 2pts and cover only '2-ball'
matches rather than '3-ball' matches. Where my analysis points to a
particular mismatch that is not reflected in the odds, higher stakes may be
advised, up to a maximum of 6pts.
Note that '2pts' represents 'to win
2pt' if the player is odds-on (negative in moneyline terms or less than 2.0 in decimal odds) and represents
'2pts staked' if the player is odds-against (positive in moneyline terms or at least 2.0 in decimal odds).
