5.5pts Tim Clark at 10/11 to beat Phil Mickelson (ladbrokes)

Firmly on the comeback trail and hungry to make up for lost time having missed over 12 months of action after injuring his elbow at the 2011 Sony Open, Clark is worth keeping a close eye on in the coming months, especially on resort courses such as these where his excellent wedge game is shown to great effect. With stellar course form of 2nd on his tournament debut in 2005, 5th in 2009 and a fast finishing runner-up finish in 2010 Tiny Tim's tournament credentials are rock solid. If you also take into account that Mickelson is making his seasonal debut - and often tends to need the run first time out these days - missed the cut last year and has had his preparation disrupted by illness you have, on paper at least, an excellent wager.

5.5pts Brandt Snedeker at 10/11 to beat Phil Mickelson (bluesq)

In much the same way as Clark, Snedeker also boasts a strong course record, is in a rich vein of form and is a far more confident player than just 12 months ago when he went into the final round in 2nd place only to fall back to 8th. An outstanding putter, I would price him up as a clear favourite against Mickelson who's making his 2013 seasonal bow.

5.5pts Pat Perez to beat David Toms 10/11 (coral)

Like Mickelson, Toms has often struggled out of the blocks in recent seasons and 2009 aside, his game has tended to be particularly rusty on his first outing. In a recent Shreveport Times interview Toms has also acknowledged that his focus on tournament golf - Majors and "Big Events" aside - may be on the wane, admitting "golf is not my top priority anymore." If you also take into account the fact that his last appearance on tour was way back in October and that the recent spell of bitterly cold weather in his hometown can't have helped his preparation, there's every reason to expect some rust in Tom's usually tidy game. His tournament form, whilst consistent, is also hardly worth writing home about with just 2 top tens in 13 starts. This contrasts starkly with 2009 champion Perez who comes in on the back of an impressive top ten finish in the Sony where he ranked 7th for GIR and appears a much happier camper on the course having worked hard in the off-season on both the physical and mental side of his game. Perez looks another strong bet at 10/11 your pick.
