A quirky event, where many of the top players have very poor records and some real unfancied outsiders have prevailed (although less so since the event moved later in the calendar to May). Struggling to narrow it down to one or two real stand out picks so have instead gone for more of a smorgasbord approach.

Scott's credentials are probably the most obvious - former winner here and coming off a win at The Masters. Rose plays a lot of his best golf in Florida, posting 3 consecutive top tens in the Florida swing in March. He has struggled to get over the line but this is a course where similar solid ball striking players with a slight aversion to trophies have prevaled in the past. Schwartzel has the class to win in this company and is another who has done well in Florida. Continuing the Florida success theme Bradley matched Rose's 3 top tens in the March events and again is a proven big event player. Oosthuizen has been a bit in the doldrums this season but a 5th place in Korea might signal a return to form, it's the price here more than anything else that attracts me. Furyk lives close to this venue and it's a course where lack of length doesn't seem to be too much of a disadvantage - he's had several high finishes here before. Stricker continues his limited schedule and it continues to work fairly well for him. Recovered very well after a poor start at the Masters to produce a very respectable finish, on a course which he admits to not liking. This one is more suited to his game and, like Furyk, a win here would be a well deserved feather in the cap as their careers begin to wind down. Ogilvy is very much the wild card choice of the bunch. We have had only one glimpse of the sort of form he desperately wants to return to this season - a 2nd place at The Honda, not insignificantly played in Florida. In a disappoitning season last year he did manage 12th place in this event. There may also be an inspiration/motivation angle from Scott's Masters win which seems to have rejuvinated many Australian golfers.
