Palmer looks well worth opposing this week after a far from ideal preparation. He played a remarkable 48 holes on Monday and Tuesday morning in an attempt to qualify for next week's US Open, an effort that narowly failed. As first alternate he will in all likelihood still qualify but I would be very surprised if he were to contend here at Southwind. That being the case he looks worth taking on with two players in good nick and likely to be in contention come Sunday afternoon.
