CHARL SCHWARTZEL to BEAT BRANDT SNEDEKER 12points 4/5 (ties inc) SportingBet
When Schwartzel burst into our world with that awesome 4 birdie finish final round 66 to win an enthralling 2011 Masters, many were predicting great things for the skinny Saffer. Apart from the odd low quality tournament in his native Country, he has not won anything of note, with The Masters being his only PGA Tour Win. However, he is having a very solid season. He hits it long off the tee (av 297.2 yards this season), has a fair degree of driving accuracy at 61%, is scrambling well, and is putting well too. The only negative is 171st for Greens in Regulation at 61%. That said, in his past two tournaments he has hit GiR 72.2% (T8th finish) and 62.5% (T11th finish). I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and view those stats attributable to a player in form. Finally, the most eye-catching stat of all, he has finished 14th, T38, T9, T16 the past 4 years in the US Open, at a time where he has not necessarily been in as good form as he is right now. His cool temperament should also be a major asset at Pinehurst No2. He is my main selection this week.
Brandt Snedeker is having a torrid season, his main strength (putting) has let him down, he is not even in the top 50 this year. A brute of test like the US Open could find Sneds out. Henrik Stenson to win Group A 2pts win 5/1 Paddy Power (DH rules Apply) Vs Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson Whilst not yet hitting the heady, lofty heights at the back end of last season, Stenson has started to show more than a glimpse of the qualities that saw him push aside all around him to win both the Fedex Cup and Race to Dubai. A wrist injury followed, but now we are beginning to see the now familiar sight of Stenson annihilating his 3 wood past most of his fellow pros' drivers, but with so much more accuracy. The stats rack up in every department for Stenson to do well here, except for scrambling. But I believe that, although he possesses a lower quality short game greenside to his peers, I expect him to offset these shortcomings with a few birdies in each of his rounds. Charl Schwartzel to win Group D 2pts win 4/1 Paddy Power (DH Rules Apply) Vs Webb Simpson, Jim Furyk, Jason Dufner, Jimmy Walker Reasons for Schwartzel to give a bold show given above. 2 points win double Henrik Stenson to win Group A and Charl Schwartzel to win Group D 30/1 Good luck!
