Arguably the best week of the punting year given the established venue and reduced field, of which 20 odd can be dismissed out of hand. With plenty of specials on offer too it's well worth sifting through the various markets, but I will be adopting my usual policy of opposing a course debutant for my main match bet. Which brings me to Chris Kirk to outscore Brendon Todd at evs with SJ. Sure Kirk has only had the one visit to Augusta, but he took well to the test last year, finishing 20th, and crucially inside the top 10 in the putting stats, which bodes very well on this second outing. Kirk has been pretty quiet so far in 2015, but finished eighth in the Texas Open last month, and while i'd lean towards Todd of the two for match-bet purposes most weeks, this isn't the time to be siding with course debutants. 6 pts Chris Kirk to beat Brendon todd at evs with Stan James There's little doubt in my mind that Hideki Matsutyama is a major winner in waiting, and it is perhaps wrong to view his Masters record too harshly given he is improving in leaps and bounds, but the fact remains that he has form figures of 27-54-mc at Augusta, and Stan James may be affording him too much respect by going evs each of two (16/1 tie) against Augusta specialist Lee Westwood. 4 top 10's in his last 5 Masters visists is impressive by anyone's standards, so I would have him more of a 4/6 shot in this duel. 5 pts Lee Westwood to beat Hideki Matsuyama at evs with Stan James. |
