2pts Bubba Watson 46 2pts Sergio Garcia 50 1pt Kevin Chappell 270 There has been the usual frenzy of speculation as to how Chambers Bay will play and who it will favour. What appears to be the case is that it is wide open off the tee, likely to be running very firm and fast like a genuine links and will place a premium on pinpoint accuracy into the large green complexes and excellent course management skills. With much of the focus on Speith and Mcilroy and whether or not Phil Mickelson can complete his career Grand Slam Sergio may well benefit from the relative lack of focus on his "best player never to have won a Major" tag. He appears to like the course describing it as "Beautiful, different and interesting" and given his links pedigree and proven ability to contend - if not quite finish the job - in Majors (19 top 10 finishes to date) this looks as good an opportunity ass any he will get to finally break his Majors duck. With length off the tee and creativity likely to be key factors in determining the champion, proven Major winner Bubba Watson is an obvious pick. Much is being made of the fact that his temperament may not be ideally suited to this test of patience and stamina but as a well rested, proven Major winner with a point to prove to his growing band of critics he could be a real danger this week. Ricky Fowler was very close to being a pick but I would prefer to wait until after the first round before backing him as a late pairing with Tiger is not ideal. Instead I would also recommend an interest in Kevin Chappell who has an excellent record in the US Open, has a house in nearby Kirkland and who's wife hails from the area. Inspired by the nappy factor and coming into form at just the right time he looks the pick of the longer priced runners.
