With Fowler, Walker, Garcia and Scott in the top-4 places, it is a very strong top-of-the-leaderboard, so I think it will be extremely difficult for any of these players to make up the 8+ shot deficit. Koepka is nine shots back and that is not suprising as he has previously struggled on this course which takes driver out of the hand; Knox has played well this course previously, but has been in poor form so far in 2016; while McDowell's form is also indifferent with missed two in his last two starts, so also lacks the form (and thus confidence) to create the necessary two very low scores over the weekend. The top of the leaderboard separated itself on Saturday with Scott and Garcia pulling four shots ahead of Barber in 3rd, five shots ahead of Thomas in 4th and six shots ahead of a group that includes Brown in 6th place, If it was Garcia alone at the top of the leaderboard, these odds would be lower, but I don't see both him and Scott faltering today. And even if they did, I don't see any of these three players playing well enough to close the gap: Barber ranks 44th, Thomas 30th and Brown 55th in greens in regulation so far this week. |
