Allianz Championship
Outright plays (2 units):
Bruce Fleisher to win 16/1 e.w. @ Surrey
Fleischer has been extremely consistent this season without winning. In his last
13 events, he has finished no worse than 12th in all but one event - he missed
the cut when defending champion in the U.S. Senior Open. He looks a decent
proposition to finish in the top-5 even if the winless streak is a worry.
Allen Doyle to win 20/1 e.w. @ Five
Dimes
This season has also been rather disappointing for Doyle. Last year, he and
Fleisher battled for the Charles Schwab Cup; this year they are both winless.
But Doyle's form has been improving this summer and, like Fleisher, he has
become very consistent again: no worse than 12th in his last six finishes. With
a good showing last year, he should also push for a top-5 place this time
around. Larry Nelson to win 22/1
e.w. @ Bet365
Nelson completes a trio of players who are playing well, but, despite winning a
combined ten titles last year, have yet to win this year. They are too good to
be winless at the end of the year and should at least be good prospects for
top-5 finishes this week. Nelson has finished in the top-10 in six of his last
nine starts and has decent course form. He recovered well from a poor opening
round to finish 12th last year.
Final update: 1-2; -1.00 units Fleisher
7th
Doyle 5th
Nelson 12th With a team of players who
are winless in 2002, maybe this was to be expected. All three were in contention
throughout, but only Doyle managed a top-5 place, though Fleisher missed out by
a single shot.
