Senior Tour Championship

Outright plays (2 units):

Gil Morgan to win 14/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Given the poor weather forecast and the offer of 5 places in a 30-main field with BetInternet and SkyBet, I am side-stepping Irwin who I would have otherwise taken at 5/1. Morgan has only won once this season - his lowest number since joining this Tour in 1996 - but he has become very consistent in the latter half of the year. He has finished in the top-10 in six of his last seven events and was 5th last year. He should be able to repeat that feat as he returns to his home State.

Bruce Lietzke to win 14/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Lietzke was leading the event last year until the high winds of the last round made scoring very difficult. He finished 3rd, two shots behind Gilder. He has been in good form, retaining the SAS Championship last month, but he is the perfect player for outright selections. This season he has won three times, finished 2nd once, 3rd once, 4th once, 5th once, 6th once and never finished 7th-11th. He has retained his laid-back approach of his PGA Tour days, but when in contention he rarely underachieves. As much chance of winning as finishing in the top-5.

Doug Tewell to win 25/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Tewell was the player who gained the most in last year's final round - only one other player broke 70 - and he finished 2nd, a shot behind Gilder. If that round is a good indicator for this year, given the weather forecast, then these look generous odds. He has not been in great form recently, but accuracy will be key requirements this week and Tewell should be suited. Hopeful of a top-5 finish from such a small field, especially given his local connection. He lives alongside Gil Morgan in Edmond, Oklahoma and both share an affiliation with Oak Tree Golf Club.

Matchup plays (2 units):

Gary McCord to beat John Bland -130 @ Five Dimes
Bobby Wadkins to beat Gary McCord -111 @ BetandWin
Tom Kite to beat Bob Gilder -111 @ BetandWin
Walter Hall to beat John Jacobs -102 @ Five Dimes

Final update:

Matchups: 1-3-0; -5.04 units

McCord/Bland LOST by 7
Wadkins/McCord LOST by 8
Kite/Gilder LOST by 10
Hall/Jacobs WON by 1

Outrights: 1-2; -1.50 units

Morgan 2nd
Lietzke 10th
Tewell 21st

Disappointing finale to the Senior PGA Tour season. Had been a classic head-to-head between Watson and Morgan, but once Watson moved ahead on the back nine, Morgan began to struggle and was disappointing in finishing two shots back. Lietzke finished a shot out of the top-5 and the only win in the matchups was by a lone shot. The losses were very heavy. Very disappointing to finish this Tour with a deficit on the matchups.
