Bruno's Memorial Classic

Outright plays (2 units):

Gil Morgan to win 14/1 e.w. @ William Hill, Paddy Power and Boyle
Retaining two of last week's selections and putting their failings down to a weather-disrupted event. Morgan is still playing better than anyone else this term and he has an equally impressive record on this course. He has yet to win the event, but has three top-3 finishes in his six previous visits, none of which has seen him finish outside the top-15. He is still competitive even to finally secure this title.

Larry Nelson to win 16/1 e.w. @ Paddy Power
Nelson has won this title (1999) and finished 3rd last year, so the addition of good course form is plenty enough reason to maintain their selection. After three 2nd place finishes this season, he getting very close to ending his winless run which extends to October 2001 and this looks as good a week as any to break that run.

Dana Quigley to win 25/1 e.w. @ Stan James
Very surprised to see such a large price on Quigley after his 2nd place finish last week and 5th place the week before. He is already a winner on Tour this season and returns to a course on which he also has excellent form. Like Morgan, he has yet to win this event, but has three top-3 finishes in five years. He also completes a trio of selections that occupy the top-3 positions in the Tour 'All-Around' category, so they are obviously playing well. Will be very surprised if one of them does not earn a payout this week!

Matchup plays (2 units unless stated):

Allen Doyle to beat Dave Barr -122 @ Centrebet
Doyle doesn't like a player who wins events anymore, but he is still consistent and worthy of following for matchups. He leads Barr 4-1-0 in their last five events and while Barr has yet to play this course, Doyle can point to two top-5s and a top-15 finish in the last three years.

Tom Jenkins to beat Rodger Davis +100 @ Five Dimes
Jenkins is another who doesn't look a likely winner, but has become very consistent and certainly more than Davis. Their current form is comparable, though Davis has won once this year, but Jenkins does hold a decisive edge on this course. Davis finished 14th last year on his first visit; in three visits Jenkins has a worst-finish of 14th. Will bite at these odds.

Doug Tewell to beat David Eger -111 @ BetandWin
Tewell almost looked as if he might win again last week when he finished 6th. It continues his clear trend, bar the Emerald Coast Classic, of improving his finishing position every week this season. If he is returning to form, then he should easily beat Eger who has won and did finish 2nd last week, but only has two other top-30 finishes in eight starts this season. He is also a course rookie and Tewell has three year's experience here.

Ray Floyd to beat Jay Overton -145 @ Five Dimes
Since finishing 4th in the ACE Group Classic in February, Overton has struggled in his two Champions Tour events, which hardly compares to Floyd's two top-10s in three starts. With Overton also a course rookies and Floyd having finished in the top-15 in the three times that he has played at Greystone, there is too much in favour of him this week.

Gil Morgan to beat Bob Gilder -110 @ SkyBet [4 units]
Gilder has beaten Morgan in their last two events with finishes of 1st and 4th, but those are the only times in eight events that he has beaten Morgan this season and consistently failed to put three good events together last season. His record at Greystone does not match up to Morgan's and I think Morgan will finish ahead of him here again.

Tom Purtzer to beat Fuzzy Zoeller -130 @ Five Dimes
Last week was only the second time in seven events this season that Zoeller has finished ahead of Purtzer. With Purtzer having finished ahead last year when they both made their course debuts, these seem decent enough odds to back a player who has already won one title this season.

Dana Quigley to beat Fuzzy Zoeller -109 @ Gamebookers [6 units]
Quigley leads Zoeller 9-0-0 h2h this season and has a great record on this course (Zoeller finished 46th on his debut). Is there any need to say more other than welcome to Seniors matchups, Gamebookers!

No 1st round plays.

Final update:

Matchups: 4-3-0; +2.26 units

Doyle/Barr LOST by 3
Jenkins/Davis WON by 6
Tewell/Eger WON by 8
Floyd/Overton LOST (Floyd withdrew)

Purtzer/Zoeller WON by 6
Quigley/Zoeller WON by 4

Outrights: 0-3; -6.00 units

Profit on the matchups not enough to cover the outrights. Quigley had been in contention for one day, but that was as good as it got. Still struggling with this Tour this year.
