Columbus Southern Open

Outright plays (2 units):

Des Smyth to win 14/1 e.w. @ Five Dimes and Stan James
Weakest field since Mexico and the first time that this course has been used on this Tour. Sets up well for Smyth who has been returning to form in the past month.

Bob Gilder to win 16/1 e.w. @ Stan James
Will put last week's performance down to the poor 1st round weather. On that basis, he is the form horse in this field and should go close if in contention after the 1st round

Vicente Fernandez to win 33/1 e.w. @ Stan James
Big price for a player who has won already this year and has also been in contention several times in the past month with two top-3 finishes in his last four events.

No time for matchup plays this week.

Canizares/Jacobs WON by 2

Wayne Levi to beat Ed Dougherty -130 @ Five Dimes
Walter Hall to beat Jim Holtgrieve -127 @ Five Dimes [4 units]
John Bland to beat Ted Goin -125 @
Five Dimes

3rd round update: 1-2-0; -5.68 units

Levi/Dougherty LOST by 1
Hall/Holtgrieve LOST by 1
Bland/Goin WON by 6

Final update:

18-holes: 3-2-0; -1.68 units

Outrights: 1-2; -3.15 units

Smyth 3rd
Gilder 32nd
Fernandez 32nd

Disappointing loss on the event courtesy of two single-shot losses in the final round. Smyth had to settle for a share of 3rd place, but still a loss on the outrights. It had looked so promising when all three had been in the top-10 after the 1st round.
