FleetBoston Classic

Outright plays (2 units):

Gil Morgan to win 16/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Basically avoiding players who made the trip over to Turnberry last week. Fatigue, physical and from playing in four majors in eight weeks, should be a factor this week. Instead, Morgan will be looking to continue his good form that has seen him finish no lower than 12th in his last four starts. He had been the 1st round leader at the Ford Senior Players Championship, but finished 5th and he should be fresher than most. Making his debut at Nashawtuc, but still good enough to win in this company.

Bruce Fleisher to win 20/1 e.w. @ Stan James
Fleisher's 2003 form has been much more patchy than that of Morgan, but he has still finished in the top-20 in nine of his last eleven starts. But against a much weaker field than usual - now the week after the Senior British Open and no longer the warm-up event for the U.S. Senior Open - he should be confident of a good week this week. He finished 3rd and 2nd in 2000-01 behind Larry Nelson who is at much shorter odds.

Tom Jenkins to win 50/1 e.w. @ Centrebet
Large price for a player in good form and with a decent course history. Jenkins won the Bruno's Memorial Classic in May and has since finished in the top-10 in five of last seven starts, including 5th place in his last outing, the Ford Senior Players Championship. He can also claim top-20 finishes in four of five previous visits, including 5th in 1999. He will have to go one better to secure the place win with Centrebet, but he is certainly playing well enough to do so.

Matchup plays (2 units unless stated):

Allen Doyle to beat Bob Gilder -150 @ Five Dimes [4 units]
Gilder may be the defending champion, but he is woefully out of form with just one top-20 finish in his last eight starts. Doyle keeps grinding out the top-10 finishes and has three top-5 finishes in five visits to Nashawtuc.

Wayne Levi to beat John Jacobs +103 @ Five Dimes [6 units]
Since winning the Senior PGA Championship, Jacobs has been disqualified, missed the cut, finished 61st and then 73rd last week. Since finishing 9th in 1997, his best finish in this event has been 29th so there seems little reason to expect a major reversal of form this week. Levi was 5th last year and has finished ahead of Jacobs in each of their three common events since the Senior PGA Championship.

Tom Jenkins to beat Mike McCullough -115 @ Five Dimes
McCullough has been in great form, but his record at this course is not particularly good and is also opposed for having played at Turnberry last week. Jenkins' form is at least as good and so gets the nod.

Gil Morgan to beat Larry Nelson -108 @ Five Dimes
Both skipped last week's event and while Nelson has an excellent course history - two wins and a 5th place finish in the last three years - against Morgan's none, the Doctor is playing extremely well again after a slight loss of form in April/May. It is the opposite way around for Nelson, so siding with the outright selection.

18-holes: 4-4-1; -5.08 units

Outrights: 1-2; +0.00 units

Morgan 45th
Fleisher 2nd
Jenkins 18th

Profitable event because of the matchups again. Fleisher made a good attempt to catch Doyle on the final day, but he had lost this event on Saturday when he had been the 1st round leader, but gave up eight shots to the eventual winner. That close to finally bringing the Champions Tour outrights into the black for this season.
