Some firms have priced up this event earlier than others, so will make
some outright plays here while waiting for more odds for the other
events. A new event and a new course, so current form and the ability to
play in Texas - and thus on Bermuda grass greens - is important. As
someone who was born, attended university and still lives in Texas, Kite
is an obvious candidate. His form from July to September was as good as
it has been for years and while he has not quite been in contention in
the last few weeks, he should perform much better close to home.
Doug Tewell to win 25/1 e.w. @

Not a Texan, but born in Louisiana and educated and living in Oklahoma,
he can at least claim to be a neighbour and that should lead to an
advantage on Bermuda greens. One of his first wins on the Champions Tour
was in Texas - the 2000 SBC Championship - and his form recently has
been good enough to net him another win: four top-4 finishes in his last
six starts, while last week's event was the first one in which he had
finished outside the top-15 since July.
Tom Jenkins to win 40/1 e.w. @
Expekt
Not only a Texas resident, but someone who was born and attended
university in Houston, the home of this event. Like the other
selections, he should play well this week in home conditions and does
have good recent form: he finished 2nd in the SAS Championship two weeks
ago. He always ranks very highly in the greens in regulation stats and
that is usually a good guide for first-time courses, so this certainly
seems a generous price with five places on offer.
