Bayer Advantage Celebrity Pro-Am (2pts):
Gil Morgan to win 14/1 e.w. @
William Hill
and
BetInternet
This is why I like betting on this Tour. The joint-favourite withdrew
two days ago and only two books have adjusted their markets! As for
Morgan, he appears to be approaching his early-season form with finishes
of 7th and 3rd in his last two events. While he was in his early-season
form he was not available at this price and so having recovered from an
opening 75 to finish 14th last year, he looks a strong contender this
time around.
D.A. Weibring to win 22/1 e.w. @
BetInternet
Weibring didn't play last year, he was just too young to qualify for
this event, but on current form he stands a good chance of securing his
second win in three starts. He has finished outside the top-10 just
three times in his last ten events and these have all been in 'new'
events for Weibring, so his youthfulness is certainly overcoming his
last course experience each time.
Tom Jenkins to win 25/1 e.w. @
SkyBet
Ranked 6th for driving distance, 3rd for driving accuracy and 2nd for
greens in regulation in the Senior PGA Championship, it is clear that it
was only a cold putter that denied Jenkins a major title. He had
finished 2nd the previous week, 4th in Bruno's Memorial Classic earlier
in May and won the Blue Angels Classic in April, so he is clearly
capable of winning this event. He did play last year and finished 6th,
so there are good reasons to support him this week.
Final update: 0-3; -6.00pts
Morgan 11th
Weibring 32nd
Jenkins 40th
Overnight rain made the course unplayable and so the last round was
cancelled. It is always a very unsatisfactory way to decide an event and
particularly for those losing positions at the time! Morgan would not
have won as he was eight shots behind Doyle and four shots outside a
place finish, so probably wouldn't have made much difference anyway.
