Farmers Charity Classic (2pts):
Larry Nelson to win 16/1 e.w. @
SkyBet
Good price for a player who won this title in 2000 and 2001 - in 2002 he
finished 19th and didn't play last year because of a back injury - and
has already won and had six top-6 finishes this season. He was always
well off the pace last week and closed with a 79 to indicate that he
clearly had this tournament on his mind.
Tom Purtzer to win 22/1 e.w. @
SkyBet
Purtzer didn't play last week and provided that he is fully fit for this
event, that is a good thing after the difficulties of last week's event.
Before his last two events he had been on a run of five consecutive
top-6 finishes, including one win, and is currently ranked 1st on Tour
in scoring average, greens in regulation and par breakers amongst
others. He gained course experience in a top-15 finish last year, so any
return to his 2004 form will see him as a very strong challenger. Note
the first two prices will not last long as Craig Stadler has withdrawn
from the event.
Tom Jenkins to win 25/1 e.w. @
Centrebet
Looks a large price for a player who is contending at least once every
other event. In his last six starts, he has one win, a runners-up spot
and a 4th place finish. He was a little off the pace last week, so
expecting a good run this week on a course on which he has played in
different years.
Final update: 0-2; -4.00pts
Nelson 49th
Purtzer 31st
Jenkins dns
Had been hopeful of picking the winner of this event when Purtzer
started the final round in the last group. A horrible round saw him drop
28 places on the day. Still an excellent season on this Tour, but now
starting to eat into the early season profits.
