Spread Picks - Champions Tour

Tipster: Andy

Senior PGA Championship

Summary: (+7.25 pts)
Unfortunately, the weather stopped the rounds getting completed each day and meant no further prices were available over the weekend.

Round One Trades (+7.25 pts)

Sell John Jacobs over Jack Nicklaus at 0 with Sporting Index for 0.25 pts MU 13, Profit -3.25 Pts

Buy Tom Watson over John Jacobs at 7 with Sporting Index for 0.25 pts MU 31, Profit 6 Pts

Double play against the defending champion who in the world of Seniors Golf is another year older which is a far more important stat than most. With 50 year old players coming in every year Jacobs gets older and his results get poorer. This year, Jacobs does have 4 Top 10's but more recently he has posted a 33rd, a 55th and a WD (after a 78). Also, although he is defending champion it is not on this course. Watson is high at 7 to buy but has a 60% Top 10 record this year which is just below last years record. Nicklaus, admittedly is in the same boat as Jacobs regards age but should possibly not be the outsider in this match. A 6th, 15th and a 36th on Tour this year is ok considering he is now but a part time player. I would argue that 1-4 Nicklaus would be a fairer price on all known stats.

Buy Tom Jenkins over Jose Maria Canizares at 4 with Sporting Index for 0.25 pts MU 22, Profit 4.5 Pts

Jenkins has 04' form of 6 Top 10's in 12 events including a win, against Jose's 1 Top 10 in 11. Jose has far better results here in the late 90's but of late, as like Jacobs, has struggled to keep up. Jenkins has proved that he can compete and is low to win this two ball.
