Outright Picks - Champions Tour

Tipster: Stanley

Odds: Outright

First Tee Open

FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -6.00pts

Watson 50th
Weibring 23rd
Quigley 11th

Looked like being a good week when first Quigley held the lead after the 1st round and later when he birdied the first five holes of the final round to be next to Gil Morgan at the top of leaderboard. Quigley is not normally one to wilt when in contention, so it was surprising as well as disappointing that he was three-over-par for the rest of the round. Weibring matched the winner's score over the weekend, but an opening 75 left him playing only for pride.

Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)

Tom Watson to win 14/1 e.w. @ GolfingGods
Watson's 9th place finish last month was his worst-finish in a Senior event for three months, but he still improved his position with every round and takes some momentum into this week as well as a rediscovery of his summer form. And while he played poorly in this event last year, he was in poor form at the time - no top-20 finish for three months - and he did win his sole U.S. Open title here at Pebble Beach.

D.A. Weibring to win 16/1 e.w. @ BetFred
Still persevering with Weibring. In contrast to Watson, his leaderboard position worsened every round after ending the first day in the lead. He did have a very good chance to win, but an inward 41 saw him fall to 9th alongside Watson. It was his eighth top-10 finish in his last nine starts (he finished 13th in his other start), so he clearly has the form to contend (and probably frustrate) again. Last year he finished 5th, so he should have another good chance to record his first win since May.

Dana Quigley to win 18/1 e.w. @ GolfingGods
With twelve top-15 finishes in his last thirteen starts, Quigley has certainly earned his position on top of the Money List and Scoring Average charts and will look to bounce back from his playoff loss last week. The omens are good for a strong week as he lost the playoff for the first major of the year, the Senior PGA Championship, and finished 4th the following week. At least a repeat performance is expected this time.
