Bank of America Championship
FINAL RESULT: 1-1; -0.20pts
Doyle/Gilder LOST by 1
McCord/Gilder WON by 1
Nelson/Gilder VOID (Nelson dns) A fair result in that the close plays
were split, but still disappointing as both had been leading with one
round to play. Matchup
plays (2pts): Allen Doyle to beat Bob Gilder -110 @
SkyBet
Opposing Gilder who in two appearances on this course has finished 1st
in 2002 and 2nd in 2003. He did not play last year. That's pretty
impressive, but the years pass quickly on this Tour and Gilder is not
the competitive player that he was. He has finished in the top-10 just
twice in his last 22 starts, spanning over 10 months. And with Doyle
also being a winner here and having a great record on this course - he
should do as he was born and raised in the area and attracts a large
support every year - I'll back Doyle to make it five wins out of the
last six when he has played in the same event as Gilder. Gary
McCord to beat Bob Gilder -107 @
Pinnacle
McCord doesn't play as much because of his broadcasting commitments, but
when he does, he is far more competitive than Gilder. He finished 4th in
the SBC Classic, played poorly in the Toshiba Senior Classic, then
returned three months later to finish 6th in the Bayer Advantage Classic
two weeks ago. His course form may not be great, but the fresher player
should win this match more times than not. Larry Nelson to beat Bob
Gilder -104 @
Expekt
Haven't backed Nelson for a long time, but will do so against Gilder,
whom he has beaten in each of their last three common events. With
Nelson also having a great record on this course - winner in 2000 and
2001 and 5th in 2002 - he should be more than a match for Gilder again. |
