Bayer Advantage Classic
FINAL RESULT: 1-2; +13.50pts
Weibring 6th
Hatalsky 17th
Quigley 1st
Very lucky to come out of such a weather-wrecked event with a profit.
Made for a nervous Monday as the players tried to match (and overtake)
Quigley and Morgan's total of 133, but only Tom Watson managed it and
Quigley was the only player to birdie the first playoff hole. Was hoping
for another winner with Weibing, but he failed to birdie the easy par-5
towards the end of his round and then dropped a shot on the next hole.
He finished one shot out of a top-5 place.
Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)
D.A. Weibring to win 12/1 e.w. @

This Tour is clearly becoming more competitive if the odds are anything
to go by ... players like these would have been regularly 20/1 and
upwards a year ago. Weibring was a selection for this event last year at
22/1, as was Jenkins at 25/1 and he is available at single figure odds
this week. As for this week's selections, these are all players at the
top of their game and with no course form to base the selections upon,
this is the primary criterion. Weibring, for his part, won three weeks
ago and took Tom Jenkins to a playoff last week. Certainly one of the
form players on Tour.
Morris Hatalsky to win 14/1 e.w. @
BetInternet
And so is Hatalsky whose 17th place finish was only the second time that
he has finished outside the top-10 since January. And having been 2nd
with one round to play last week, he really should have finished higher
than he did. He should do so this week.
Dana Quigley to win 14/1 e.w. @
BetInternet
Having reached 2nd place during the final round last week, Quigley
should have done better than a share of 4th place, but it extended his
run of top-10 finishes to five, of which four have been top-5 finishes.
While Quigley completes a trio of players who all rank in the top-10 in
the Tour's most important stat categories - Scoring Average, All-Round
Ranking, Money Leaders, Charles Schwab Cup Points and Top-10 Finishes,
it is Quigley who has the best stats of the lot, ranking 2nd, 1st, 1st,
1st and 1st in these five categories respectively. He really should be
on the leaderboard again ion Sunday night. |
