Senior PGA Championship
FINAL RESULT: 2-1; +1.08pts
Haas/Irwin LOST by 7
Haas/Stadler WON (Stadler withdrew)
Kite/Watson WON by 4
Hardly as expected ... Haas missed the cut by one and Stadler gifted the
win by withdrawing after the 1st round. Could have had the sweep if Haas
had been one shot better as Irwin struggled over the weekend, but any
profit after Haas' performance must be gratefully received!

"Over the last four tournaments, it's like somebody turned the switch
off. I don't have a clue. I'm looking for tips by the way." That was
Hale Irwin at the Media Day earlier this month. He is clearly opposable
at the moment and particularly with a player like Haas who finished 11th
on this course in the 2001 PGA Tour event here. He just is a different
class and while Champions Tour titles may not be foremost in his targets
for 2005, this is a major and he should be very hard to beat.

Similar story here. Stadler has finished 9th in his last three Champions
Tour starts and he will certainly need to finish higher than that to
beat Haas. Five Dimes make the younger man -155 and that seems more
appropriate.

Kite to beat Tom Watson -105 @

Kite should be the clear favourite here. He found his game last week,
finishing 2nd to D.A. Weibring in a close finish in the Bruno's Memorial
Classic, but at least he had been semi-competitive beforehand, finishing
in the last month 12th and 23rd in his two Champions Tour events and
making the cut on the PGA Tour in the Wachovia Championship. By
contrast, Watson shot 77-76 to miss the cut in the Masters in his only
start since February. Even if playing well, he is too ill-prepared for
this event to finish ahead of Kite.
