Matchup plays (2pts):
John Harris to beat Tim Simpson -111 @
Expekt
Simpson has improved in each of his three Champions Tour events, but he is still
short of being a player of Harris' calibre who finished in the top-10 last week
and was 2nd in the Toshiba Senior Classic in March. Harris also has the
advantage of three years' course form against his rookie opponent and that
includes a particularly strong performance on this course last year.
Jay Sigel to beat Mike Hill -140 @
Five
Dimes
Hill may have finished 5th and 6th on this course in 2003 and 2004, but age has
since caught up with the 67-year-old and he is now playing just his fourth event
of the year with a best finish of 45th. Sigel may be only five years his junior,
but that is a lot on this Tour and he has been playing full-time this season and
very solidly too. Top-20 finishes in each of the last two years on this course
are also supportive.
Bobby Wadkins to beat Mark Johnson -115 @
Pinnacle
Backing Wadkins again in this event. Apart from a three-event burst of form in
March-April, Johnson continues to disappoint after showing such promise when
earning his Tour Card. Wadkins has finished ahead of him in four of their last
five common events and has a 14-6-3 h2h record against him over the last year.
That is quite an advantage and then there is Wadkins' history in this event ...
