FINAL RESULT: 0-4; -5.00pts Oosthuizen T32, Horsey T25, McLean MC & Kamte T21. Solid starts from Kamte and Oosthuizen but they failed to maintain that form on Friday. Kamte did make the turn in round four with a top five finish in his sights but a triple bogey on the 13th extinguished those hopes. Outright plays (total staked 5pts) Louis Oosthuizen 1pt ew @ 22-1 Bet365 & BlueSq The South African has four wins in South Africa from 38 starts with three of those coming in his last six starts. He also possesses a top five strike rate of over 25% on the Sunshine Tour. This is a better than average field for that tour, but it is not a huge step-up in class for a golfer of Oosthuizen's ability. Twelve months ago his strong challenge here was derailed by an errant third round but he did enough to proved he likes the set-up. Last seen finishing fast at the SAA Open before Christmas, he is the pick of the favoured golfers at 22-1. Dave Horsey 0.5pt ew @ 80-1 VCBet & Ladbrokes After the ex-Walker Cupper finished fifth at Huntingdale (a traditionally designed course not unlike the one he will encounter this week) some books rated Horsey a 40-1 shot at the NZ Open. This is a bigger field with a little more class, but Horsey played solidly at The Hills after suffering the worst of the first day wind and doesn't warrant being pushed out to 80-1. Aware that he will have limited opportunities on tour this year, he is hungry to make the most of every start. Alan Mclean 0.5pt ew @ 80-1 Betdirect & Stan James The widely travelled Scottish-South African plays some of his finest golf on tree-lined courses so he should enjoy the two courses at the Royal Johannesburg GC and I'm willing to ignore his missed cut last year. Like Horsey his last showing needs to be read with the conditions taken into account. Mclean recovered well from a R1 80 in the SAA Open, suggesting that the fine form of the summer hasn't yet deserted him. James Kamte 0.5pt ew @ 150-1 Totesport Having won his European Tour card at Q-school Kamte was devastated by the unexpected death of his father before Christmas. He has been working hard over the holiday period, has always performed very well at altitude (specifically at the Kenyan Open and in the Johannesburg region), is highly regarded and motivated by his recent loss. The price looks a bit big for someone whose career top five strike rate is nearly 10%.
