4pts Horne v Kingston 10/11 Tote Horne has won 18 of the 25 H2H's over the last year including finishing ahead of Kingston the last two weeks.
by JUMBO Jaco van Zyl to beat Joost Luiten - 7 points @ 10-11 (Totesport/Betfred)
Both players come into the event as one of the more fancied in a moderate field, but Van Zyl clearly possesses the best credentials and should know too much around here for his market rival. Van Zyl is an ever-present in this grade of event at home and on top of an impressive overall South African record, can boast East London form of 4/4/28/15. He didn't take in his usual season opener at the Telkom, so should improve on last weeks respectable 11th in Joburg, an effort that would have yielded better reward but for a couple of lax moments midway through Payday. Nevertheless, the stats show that Van Zyl is in decent form with good all round figures and it will not harm him returning to a shorter track where he shot 23-under last season. There seems no reason why he can't continue a run of six top-tens in his last nine South African runs and he should surely be showing as favourite against the Dutchman. Joost Luiten has always had promise and has done remarkably well to overcome a serious wrist injury to continue challenging in decent events and to win his maiden in 2011. He still does show a lack of knowledge when he is in contention and on a course that may require a bit of knowing, it is unsure whether that 28th last season is enough to go on with. Whilst at face value, some of his efforts read better than this grade (such as the 6th in Abu), he pulled out of Dubai with an injury and may need the practice here before the season gets under way back in Europe. Other than possible potential, there seems no reason to go with Luiten against a player of Van Zyl's tidiness and skill, especially here where the latter has a huge advantage.
