Round One Trades
Buy C DiMarco over M Campbell 18H MB
at 3 with
Spreadex for 0.75 pts
(M/U 16, Profit 9.75pts)
Neither of these players have a good world matchplay
record, Campbell has won 2 of 6 and DiMarco 1 of 4.. DiMarco though is
taken to prevail here due to Campbell's very poor PGA Tour form. in 2003
he missed 7 cuts, DQ at Sawgrass after starting with an 89 !!! and in
his only 4 round event was 69th in the PGA, it was a very poor year. He
has stated a desire to stick to where he plays best so he shouldn't have
too many positives in his mind for this week.
Buy T Woods over J Rollins 18H MB at
10.5 with
Spreadex for 0.75 pts
(M/U 13, Profit 1.88pts)
We are advising Woods at Spreadex's spread free price of
10.5. (If you place 3 bets you can have another spread free). At
10.5 this is a fair price. Woods has a 14-3 record in this event. That
doesn't mean to say he is value at 4/1 to win outright but he certainly
is so at 10.5 in his R1 match. Rollins has missed the cut in the last 3
weeks so comes in here on poor form. Obviously 18H can be a lottery at
best but in Matchplay even more so but Woods should be longer priced
than he is. He is coming off a very low R4 at Riviera so should be
mentally prepared and confident.
Buy V Singh over S Katayama 18H MB at
10 with
Spreadex
for 0.75 pts
(M/U 25, Profit 11.25pts)
Both this bet and the Weir bet are being traded on the
fact the price is just a little too low. Singh has lost a bit of the
edge he had over the last two weeks but with his obsessive ambition to
be #1 in the world, the points allocated for winning this would help
immensely. Katayama has been playing in Japan with some success but in
the States he has missed 11 of 18 cuts in his career, best position
being 4th in Toms' PGA win in 2001. 10 is a fair price.
Buy M Weir over R Beem 18H MB at 10
with
Spreadex for 0.75 pts
(M/U 19, Profit 6.75pts)
Mike Weir is in great form,
winning last week and was progressively heading upwards towards last
week having been 5th and 4th in previous weeks. Beem has not had a top
30 since the Western last July. Even in Australia where he was one of
the top ranked players in the two fields he finished 34th and MC in
December 2003. Once again value even at the high price offered.
Note: Scoring this week is 10pts
win, 3pts per Holes won by. so a 2 up pays the same as a 2&1. Although
this does squeeze the advantage of buying players as there is less
likelihood of a high MU, you also get the insurance that if your player
wins at an extra hole it doesn't MU at the 18H point of 0 but on who
wins through, and would therefore MU 10. This can work both ways but it
does give us a straight even money bet on the 19th hole and more on 4
players who would be favourite in-running.
Sell S Garcia over J Kelly

Cantor Sports for 0.75 pts.
(M/U -25, Profit 10.12pts)
Sell J Kaye over D Waldorf

(M/U -25, Profit 10.12pts)
Sell P Casey over S Micheel

(M/U -10, Profit 1.88pts)
Sell P Lonard over R Mediate
18H Index at 13.5 with
Cantor Sports for 0.75 pts.
(M/U 25, Profit -8.62pts)
Sell K J Choi over S Cink 18H
Index at 12.5 with
Cantor
Sports for 0.75 pts.
(M/U -25, Profit 9.37pts)
All 5 of these bets are advised as i believe the prices
should be a lot closer. I would rate most of these are "take your pick"
and possibly even the Choi bet as being the wrong favourite. The winner
gets 25 points, the loser 0 and if it goes down the 19th it M/U at 10 no
matter who wins. We are on the outsider in all 5, and with the known
ceiling the most you can lose in each individual bet is 25 less the
price. Three correct will make a profit and only two would still come
close due to the prices we are trading at.
Round Two
Trades
Buy Tiger Woods over Trevor Immelman 18H MB at 9 with
Cantor
Sports for 0.75
pts. (M/U 25, Profit 12pts.)
Everyone that watched Woods last night and seen him be given the match
rather than win it are rushing to back Immelman at inflated odds and
Cantor have reacted to this and offered Woods at 3 or 4 points too low.
Others go 8-11 and even that is verging on value. Immelman doesn't have
a great US tour record but coupling Woods' struggle with Immelman
beating the, "supposed good thing" Maruyama, with ease yesterday has
meant some value here. In matchplay, of course, they start afresh each
day so i am happy to advise Woods at a price where any victory produces
a profit.
Sell P Harrington over B Estes 18H Index at 13 with
Cantor Sports for 0.75 pts.
(M/U 25, Profit -9pts)
Sell A
Scott over R Allenby 18H Index at 12 with
Cantor Sports
for 0.75 pts. (M/U 10, Profit 1.5pts)
Similar to
yesterday, Scott is a false favourite at 12, and Harrington, although
probably favourite, is priced too heavily.

Final Trades
Buy Tiger Woods over Padraig Harrington 18H MB at 7 with
Cantor
Sports for 0.75 pts. (M/U 16, Profit 6.75pts)
It's a bit of deja-vu here as we seem to tip up Woods in
his 18 holers now for the past two weeks. And basically the reason is
that the price for almost the first time since the Woods bandwagon
started is verging on being value. Other firms go 6-9 but Cantor dip
inside our price limits by offering 7.
Sell D Clarke over J Kelly 18H Index at 12 with
Sporting Index for 0.75 pts. (available at 12.5 with IG)
(M/U 25, Profit -9.75pts)
Exact same reasoning as Weds/Thurs, Clarke is possibly
priced just a bit too high and with the known upside/downside in these
bets is worth a punt at a price.
Summary
(Weekly Record 11-3
Profit 54pts)
A much better week this
week with the value prices on Woods paying a great deal towards the end
figures.

Round One Trades
Buy Kenny
Perry/Jeff Sluman 18H MB at 3 with
Cantor Sports for 0.5 pts
(M/U 28, Profit
12.5pts)
Already supported Perry on the Betfair outright
market but I can't resist this generous price, it's high as 5 elsewhere.
Simple reasons: Perry is in a different class to Sluman, he's a
fabulously long and straight driver which I think will stand him in good
stead this week, plus he's rested and fresh whereas Sluman pulled out
injured from last week's Nissan.
Sell
Davis Love/Briny Baird 18H MB at 4 with all except IG for 0.5 pts
(M/U 16, Profit
-6pts)
Possibly a dangerous player to take on, is Love, because he is
capable of great things ... but similarly he can be very poor for no
apparent reason. His missed cut last time out, plus the way Clarke
destroyed him in round 2 here last year, means I'm very happy taking him
on with someone with Baird's profile. Definite signs that his game was
returning to it's very consistent best last week and we could see his
usual fairways-and-greens efforts triumph today. There is also a chance
we could see the occasional streaky putting round he comes up with and
that, or a poor show from the sometimes unpredictable DL3, could see a
handsome make-up in our favour here. Worth a try at the price I feel,
with strokeplay non-winners, as Baird is, often doing the business in
this format.
Round Two Trades
Buy
Stewart Cink/Colin Montgomerie at 3 (*1.5*) with
SportsSpread for 0.5 pts
(M/U -25, Profit
-13.25pts)
Originally tipped this at 1.5 with SS but
it changed almost immediately so it's not fair to tip a price nobody can
get. The 3 is available at every other firm quoting. Reasons for this
play is on the matchups page
here.
*Update*:
IG Sport have just gone up at 1.5 Cink too, so we are now
justified in including this price for our P/L record, wouldn't hesitate
to take the 3 elsewhere either though.
Adding:
Buy Chad Campbell/Loren
Roberts at 3 with
Sporting Index &
IG Sport for 0.5 pts
(M/U 19, Profit
8pts)
Buy Kenny Perry/Steve Flesch at 3 with
Spreadex for 0.5 pts
Both acceptable prices, I was prepared to reluctantly ignore these
matches on the spreads, after tipping them
both on the matchups, if the price wasn't
right, but it is fine. Going in at 4 would've been a much harder
decision, though.

Final Trade
Buy Phil
Mickelson/Davis Love at 3 with
SportsSpread &
IG Sport for 0.5 pts
(M/U -13, Profit
-8pts)
Nothing very complicated here, I just think Mickelson is playing
fantastically well (he is several under par every round so far) and I've
some doubts about Love. He admits to being a bit croaky after possibly
catching his wife's cold and is also being periodically troubled by a
bad neck. He's played OK this week, being a couple under par each round,
but has had a slightly soft run so far, culminating in playing Scott immediately after he'd finally won a very tight 23-hole match. I won't
be surprised if he completely runs out of steam today and gets hammered
like he did by Clarke in round two last year.
