Angel Cabrera to beat Colin Montgomerie -110 @ Carib
Cabrera has been supremely consistent over the past few months and in h2h's this season with
Montgomerie he leads an impressive 9-2-2. I'm not expecting a negative reaction this week from
Monty after his Ryder Cup heroics. But with the form he is at the moment I give Cabrera the edge.
And on a course that is likely to turn into a birdiefest I'd much rather be with Cabrera rather than
the fairways and green approach of Montgomerie.
Trevor Immelman to beat Paul Casey +100 @ Carib
A number of possibilities cropped up this week to oppose Casey as I believe he is being overrated
based on his Ryder Cup and Matchplay performances. Irrespective of how impressive he was over
the past two weeks, his form over the season in general compared to Immelmans does not make
him a clear favourite in my assessment. Immelman has had a superb last 6 months and that form
has continued that form since returning from a break to celebrate the birth of his first child. His
recent stats have shown a marked improvement in all aspects of his game while Casey's form can
solely be attributed to an improvement in his accuracy off the tee. Not much to separate these
two, but I would have Immelman as slight favourite.
Anthony Wall to beat Simon Dyson -104 @ Pinnacle
Both players have impressed this season, but Wall has comfortably the better h2h record against
Dyson. There is also a worry that Dyson's form is tailing off after his recent vistory at the KLM
as he has missed two out of three subsequent cuts while Wall continues to impress with his
consistency. Wall has the better record in higher quality fields and his recent 5th at Wentworth,
supposedly a course similar in make up to this one, is another positive sign.
Lucas Glover to beat Sean O'Hair -110 @ Carib
O'Hair spent the early part of this season struggling to overcome the difficult second season
syndrome. But thankfully that's all in the past and his form over the past 4 months has been
excellent, although there are recent signs that his long season is being to take it's toll. Glover
on the otherhand has a largely disappointing second half of the season but recent signs are
more encouraging. His performances at the Bridgestone and the Deutsche Bank highlighted a
potential return to form. If this week does turn into a birdie feast then Glover will be favoured,
as he is currently sitting 6th on the tour on birdie average (O'Hair 94th) and 10th for birdie
conversion (O'Hair 78th).
