8-13, -1.75pts
final round: Back Geoff Ogilvy to beat Davis Love to win 2pts @2.39 at Pinnacle - won Back Tom Lehman to beat Zach Johnson to win 1.5pts @2.23 at Pinnacle - lost Can't really see a whole lot in either of these matches so will side with the odds against in both.
round 4: Back Tom Lehman to beat Chad Campbell to win 1.25pts @2.44 at Pinnacle - won Lehman has arguably been the most surprising success story of this event. Word has it he has found a new focus in his golf game and been putting in a lot of practise of late. There was an indication of positive results from this in his two top 10 finishes in the events leading up to this week, but even still I don't think many would have thought he'd have made it past Appleby, Scott and Toms to reach this stage. Campbell did us a favour by dumping Woods out the event yesterday, and while it won't have been 'the biggest day of his career' as one TV interviewer suggested, I think there is a possibility of an adverse reaction. Back Zach Johnson to beat Retief Goosen to win 1.25pts @2.75 at BetDirect, Bet365 - won Zach Johnson is another who has impressed this week, certainly strenghtening his credentials as a good matchplayer. While Goosen is correctly favourite in this match these odds are tempting enough to take a chance on. -------------------------------------------------------------------- round 3: Back Chad Campbell to beat Tiger Woods to win 3pts @3.8 at Pinnacle - won Despite Woods' blistering start to the event against Ames he was taken right to the wire by Allenby today, showing that he is not necessarily invincible this week. I don't think Campbell is any great respector of reputations and on his day is capable of beating anyone. Back Luke Donald to beat Retief Goosen to win 1.25pts @2.15 at Centrebet - lost Back Geoff Ogilvy to beat Mike Weir to win 1.25pts @2.15 at Centrebet -won
---------------------------------------------
Not a good first round of results, but we shall persevere.
round 2: Back Ben Crane to beat Retief Goosen to win 2pts @2.78 at Pinnacle - lost Back Arron Oberholser to beat Chris DiMarco to win 1.25pts @2.33 at Pinnacle - lost Back Zach Johnson to beat Sean O'Hair to win 1pt @1.909 at Pinnacle - won Back Bernhard Langer to beat Mike Weir to win 2pts @2.35 at Betdaq (note 2.25 available at VCbet) - lost
----------------------------------------------------------------
adding round 1 play (probably the last one!) Back Tom Lehman to beat Stuart Appleby to win 1pt @2.25 at Centrebet - won Appleby's form has been progressively going downhill since the Mercedes (as it usually tends to do) wheras Lehman has had two top 10's in his last two outings. Appleby also has never fared well in this event. -
further round 1 plays: Back Mark Hensby to beat Davis Love to win 1pt @2.62 at Skybet - lost Back Stewart cink to beat Mike Weir to win 1.5pts @2.1 at Coral - lost
adding round 1: Back Bart Bryant to beat John Daly to win 2.5pts @1.83 at Ladbrokes - lost Breaking the pattern of backing at odds against for this one. Daly's game really hasn't been there at all recently. Bryant has had a bit of an up an down start to the season, but that was probably due to the after effects of knee surgery over the break which saw him sit out for a month after missing the cut at the Sony Open. A solid return to action in the Nissan last week though suggests he is back to his consistent form which should be enough to see off Daly here. Back K.J. Choi to beat Robert Allenby to win 1.25pts @2.1 at SportingOdds - lost
round 1 matches: Back Tim Herron to beat Chad Campbell to win 1.5pts @2.5 at SportingOdds - lost Back Brandt Jobe to beat JM Olazabal to win 2pts @2.5 at SportingOdds - lost Back Lucas Glover to beat Adam Scott to win 2pts @2.87 at SportingOdds - lost Back Bernhard Langer to beat Ernie Els to win 3pts @3.25 at Betfred, Paddy Power, Sporting Odds - won
Continuing the backing of outsiders.
round 1 match: Back Stephen Ames to beat Tiger Woods to win 3pts @5.5 at PaddyPower - lost This price looks huge for an 18 hole matchup in a tournament famed for upsets! Ames' preparations won't be ideal as he is a late call up after Bjorn's withdrawal, but Woods was suffering very badly from flu last week leading to his withdrawal from the Nissan. This simply has to be value. |
